Tasty late night meal of super crispy chicken, sausage, crispy pork and sticky rice. The Nam Prik Noom (Green chilli dip) and cabbage that came with was my favorite part but the meat had good flavor too. It’s a simple menu and they let us know right away that they don’t have an English menu (they don’t even have a sign with English except for the Facebook site that says midnight/stickyrice.) There is a yellow sign with a chicken on it so we decided to chance that this was correct despite the map being a little off. We aren’t picky so the lack of menu was remedied by asking for the usual order and she suggested the three meat plates and asked if we wanted sticky rice. They also had boiled eggs available but we didn’t try them I later read they may be duck eggs and I’m sorry we didn’t try it. The night we were there there were only a couple other English speakers and the place was packed. There was also a mango sticky rice nearby that I didn’t see on the map but it is fantastic and comes with a baggy of super creamy coconut cream for take away. They had repeat customers standing in line telling us how good it is...
Read moreRead moreFamous BBQ / fried animal protein restaurant, featured in (the late) Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown Chiang Mai episode. Basically, they have fried chicken (amazing), BBQ Lana sausage (sai oua), deep fried pork (moo krob) … and more. You get some small vegetable accompaniments. They can chop up everything for you in bite sizes (you should have them do it for you). I have been 3 times in one week, for main meal or late snack meal. The restaurant is basically under a metal roof, on a slab of cement, open to the street, etc. Zero (or pure dark street) atmosphere! if you need to know. You can dine in (line ups can be long especially on week ends— line up on left side). Or you can order take out (line up on right side, much much faster if you have a place to eat it at!). This is for take out— the old lady running the shop stands behind her counter, with all the recently cooked meat pieces on platter, point and chose. Make a chopping gesture after that, so she can cut it up. You pick your bag of veggies, they tell you/ show you the total and you pay, then you go find a quiet spot to...
Worst service mind ever. I went here to try fried pork, there were lots of people linning up to order when I arrive. I also lined up to order and while they preparing my foods, i realized they were putting foods in plastic bag. So I asked them can we eat here? I didn't know this line is for take away. And the owner said you have to wait for long time. After that, they packed everything we ordered and there were pretty lots of seats left and i asked can we seat? And suddenly one guy said very rudly that we cannot eat here if we already have take away bag. And everyone there looked at us like we did sth wrong.(all conversation were fully in Thai)
This was my experience. You guys can choose to go or not. But food was just normal like any other place, fried things were cold and hard to chew. Just the owner tone of voice and face expression treat customer like...
