Ma Kin Pizza — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

I don’t like to give unfavorable reviews based upon a single visit, because sometimes there is just an off night that is not characteristic of the restaurant. But I have visited this restaurant three times in the past two weeks and I’ve yet to have a five star experience.

Food: the first time I ordered a sausage pizza. It was nearly flavorless. It was comprise mainly of sliced potatoes with a thin as possible slices of Italian sausage which imported no flavor to the pizza. The crust was satisfactory though .Three stars

On my second visit I ordered a pepperoni pizza from the Grab app. The Grab app page for this restaurant promised a free 5 inch margarita pizza with my order. But when I arrived to pick up my order, they did not give me a 5 inch margarita pizza. They said I didn’t order it. I open the Grab app and showed them that it was part of the same order and they refused to honor the promise. So in terms of Customerservice, one star. The pizza itself was satisfactory but not excellent. Three stars

Tonight was my third visit. I brought a Thai friend along and we ordered one pizza, half chicken pesto and half chicken tikka. This was ordered in Thai language so there was no communication barrier. When they brought the order out they brought us two pizzas, one chicken pesto and the other chicken tikka. We noted that our order was for one pizza half-and-half and they said they did not do half-and-half pizzas. Why didn’t they tell us this at the time of ordering while we clearly specified half-and-half? I said no problem, just give us 1/2 of each of the two pizzas and will be happy. But they would only allow us to take one of the pizzas without dividing the two. We chose the chicken tikka and it was pretty good. Four star. But the attitude of the Customerservice was very poor. Again, one star. Indeed, my time for noted that as we left the staff was complaining about us loudly in Thai language, apparently critical of our stupidity and expecting to receive what we had ordered.

The pizza here is excellent for Thailand but it’s the service that makes it outstanding. The waiter (who people in other reviews say is Mike) is friendly, kind, and attentive. He makes an effort to get to know each table without being overbearing. He always has a huge smile when you arrive—the positivity is infectious.

As for the food, we enjoyed that the pepperoni pizza also came with tomato for a change of pace. The tuna pizza was also good with all the normal toppings, plus a generous portion of bell peppers. The pizza holds up and keeps its form even with a lot of toppings.

We also really enjoyed the tuna (nicoise) salad. It’s all a bit on the pricier side for what’s around but it’s good food, great service, nice atmosphere, and still under $30usd for a pizza, gourmet salad, and two glasses of wine. This is a great place to eat, me and my family have been in Chang Mai for 4 days and have eaten here 2 times. De service is great! The waiter was very polite and tried his best in talking English, which was very good. He was having a talk with us about our trip, which we enjoyed. The realm is also good. The entire restaurant is open so it's all outside. And because of the waiters being very polite us gave an even better realm. The food was very good. The first time it wasn't that busy so we got the appetizers first and the main course after that. Which you don't have in many restaurants in Thailand.
