Namton's House Bar — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Do not be fooled by "we change our beers often" trick. Old inventory of different beer all the time from the distributor, it's genius really. Getting top dollar for discounted supply. They charge the most for Craft Beer anywhere in Thailand. All other options are better than here. The owner told me they charge the least, little did she know I had been to every other bar in Chiang Mai that sells IPA/Craft beer, when I quoted the price of the exact same IPA at all of her competitors and asked her how she can say they sell it the cheapest she got angry and told me I didn't have to buy, I agreed and left. Prior to the pleasant owner lady, the husband owner (seems like a great guy) mentioned a tasting Saturday of the IPA beers (this place is the only Craft Beer place I have ever been to in any city in any country where you can not taste one or two of the beers available on tap). I arrived yesterday and found only one draft beer available to taste, 555/lol. I bought a half pint for what others charge for a pint, felt foolish for going...

This is a beautiful place.

It's as simple as that. The owner seems to be as much of a gardener as a beer expert. I've never been in a beer place where I felt as much at home as here. It's a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth crossing the bridge for.

Only thing I want to mention is the somewhat strict rules on tasting and ordering. Feels a bit weird. My best guess is that they had some problems with people about this in the past. My humple recommendation (from a customer point of view) would be to loosen it up a little bit. You may have the odd jerk abusing it but I reckon it would be worth considering the 99% "honest" customers who would feel all the more welcome.

Finally a good proper local beer house refusing to serve it with ice!!!! Well done!!

This become my favourite local beer house in CNX. Cool place, great selection and good taste of music. Thong Pradit IPA rocks. Love it. Expensive? No way. Not when u sip it and experience the craftsmanship.

They have taste portion of 4 for some costs, which I think it's worth it when u wanna try a couple different ones without paying for full pints.

And for those who moans about free taste, this is a micro brewery run by a local family. Not a big enterprise, not offering u free sip for all selections are reasonable enough. Dont be a cheapskate!
