I'm having trouble rating this to be honest, mostly because the terrible service from 1 server. I arrived on crutches just after noon, and the concierge at the resort sweetly offered a wheelchair to get to the restaurant. As it had been rainy and the floor was slippy, I was very grateful.
When I got to the restaurant, they asked if I had a reservation, which I didn't - but the bar was literally empty, so I didn't think it would be a problem. The server, Phatarajara sat me around a corner, outside the bar, which meant I had to keep getting up on my crutches to call her. Also I took a litte walk around the bar and there was plenty of space on the couches, so I'm not sure why I wasn't allowed to sit there. People on crutches look bad???
I ordered the northern sausage and a cocktail. The server was very judgy that I got alcohol, she tried to recommend tea or coffee and then DOUBLY judgy that I ordered a cannabis cocktail.
The kitchen staff were super sweet and brought out a complimentary betel leaf appetizer, which was delicious, as was the northern sausage. There were 3 types, I asked the server what the fried one was and she didn't know, so she went and asked, and then just said pork. So I asked what's the difference between the 3 and she could only answer pork, pork, northern style. Not very helpful. This is a fancier place to eat, I expect the server to know a little more about the food than that.
Then I ordered a second drink. She insisted they didn't have it 3 times until I showed her the menu, and she said, uh cannabis menu- more judgement.
The 2 drinks I got by the way were the Crash, a cannabis infused soju with orange and elderflower which was light and refreshing and a Genmicha Hazenuts- a rum based drink w white cocoa liquor and cannabis powder- like a brandy alexander with a little green! Also delicious.
When I went to leave she insisted on putting the wheelchair next to the exit ramp, not next to me, so I had to use my crutches to hobble over to it, then when I got in, tried to ram it up the ramp twice, bashing my foot each time as she wasn't strong enough. I finally insisted she get someone else to help me becasue I was in pain and he turned the wheelchair around to pull me up the ramp backwards and she came over and bashed my fractured ankle AGAIN!
Also when I left, the hotel staff asked where I was coming from and I mentioned 1921 and they asked if I had the daily brunch special. It sounded perfect and included the sausage I had ordered, but my server never once mentioned it.
So if your servers name is Phatarajara, run away quickly! If not, stay and have delicious food and drink. Everyone else in the hotel was very sweet and...
Read moreI had high hopes for this restaurant but was a bit let down mostly due to a number of very easily fixable issues with the waitstaff. Presentation was creative and attractive at first, but was diminished by a few common factors throughout the dining experience. The 2-3 waitresses serving me were very nice. However, I found myself calling for their attention multiple times. I was there around 5:30pm, as a single diner so it wasn’t that busy. Unfortunately, what I observed was them being much more attentive to the older more “affluent” in appearance couples on a date. Which was probably the most discouraging thing about this place. I don’t ever like to feel like I’m out of place when I go to eat somewhere. I’m paying the same money as everyone else and in this case because of the bad direction from the waitstaff I probably ordered just as much food, if not more as a table for two would. Which brings me to my next issue. The food portions were very large and are meant for sharing, which was mentioned prior, but when I placed my order I asked if it would be enough and even requested a little direction from my waitress to make sure I wouldn’t make this exact mistake. They replied with absolute certainty that it was enough and didn’t give any indication that it would be too much. When the food arrived I was a bit surprised as an 85kg, 185cm man, that they would’ve thought I’d be able to finish everything. Not a big deal, I asked them to box the rest. Next, knowing how full I was, one of the waitresses asked me if I wanted desert, so I said sure let me take a look at the menu. I ordered a single desert that came out very unexpectedly, again, as a very large array of different Thai sweets along with some coconut ice cream. This desert portion was enormous, just take a look at the pictures. All I’m saying is that some direction from my waitresses would’ve prevented me from ordering enough food for three people. As for the actual food, it wasn’t bad at all, but not great, and surely not worth the price. Oh, and to end the experience I of course had to ask for my bill which was then followed by my waitress asking me to leave because there were other reservations coming. Again, this was mentioned to me, but if the staff was a bit better at doing their jobs I would’ve been out of there much earlier. Overall, not worth the money or time to check this place out. Also, swarming with...
