As Indian tourists in Chiang Mai, we were excited to find an Indian restaurant with a 4.1 rating open till midnight. However, the experience was underwhelming from the start.
Despite the restaurant being empty, the staff member, Sagar, insisted our group of six sit at a cramped table and reluctantly allowed us a larger one only after we insisted. Ironically, two guests who came later were allowed to sit at a 6-seater without question.
The service left a lot to be desired. Sagar initially skipped the Egg Biryani order and only brought it after we reminded him. What we received wasn’t even close to an authentic Egg Biryani. It was plain biryani rice with a few boiled eggs placed on top, no garnishing or flavoring, just mixed together - it wasn’t prepared with any authenticity.
Basic Indian accompaniments like fresh lemons and raita weren’t available. We were told they only had lemon syrup and no yogurt at all.
For a restaurant advertising itself as Indian, the lack of authenticity, poor service, and dismissive attitude were extremely disappointing. This experience didn’t reflect the warmth and hospitality one expects from Indian dining—especially while abroad. I would not recommend this place to fellow travelers or anyone looking for a genuine...
Read moreHad butter chicken, plain naan and plain rice. Only person in the restaurant. No warm welcome. No music which is ok for peace and quiet but no atmosphere. Food came pretty quick. Served on horrible metal plates with odd cutlery. Butter chicken was extremely spicy/hot. Not like a butter chicken normally is. 2 pieces of chicken had bone in them and I spat it out into my tissue.
Naan looks restaurant made. Was extremely hot when served but before I'm half way through its already cold and so chewy you have to pull it away from your face while holding onto it with your teeth. My assumption is it's made with a large batch and heated up when you arrive. Not fresh at all.
I had to go get a cold milk drink from the 7 eleven for my stomach and to stop my lips from burning. Unenjoyable meal that cost 250 baht. I could of bought so many better things for that money.
Will not return...
Read moreVery kind and pleasant staff. Food arrived very fast and was hot. Nice and quiet on a rainy afternoon in mid July 2022, with no disturbing TV or music. It's about 50 ft from Zoe. Very relaxed with the doors open and a breeze coming through. We didn't see any pests or bugs. Very clean place with immaculately clean tablecloths, simple, sturdy wooden chairs as furniture, polished floor...they obviously take care of the place. All the food was spiced as we asked we had aloo Chaat garlic naan, vegetable biryani. Again the staff was really pleasant and this is a great place to eat Indian food.
I don't know what it's like at night but in the afternoon on a Thursday it was just a nice quiet day in Thailand, dining from New Delhi recipes.
We look forward to...
