Stepping into THE GOODCERY on Ratchawong Road, you are immediately struck by the unique fusion of entrepreneurial spirit and local commerce. This expansive coffee shop, stretching over 600 square meters in a stylishly converted shophouse, offers a warm and inviting space that serves as a hub for both caffeine aficionados and business professionals alike.
On the day of my visit, the venue was abuzz with the energy of a startup showcase, an event supported by a government organization to fuel the entrepreneurial fires of the northern region. The event seamlessly integrated into the vibrant atmosphere of the coffee shop, which occupies the ground floor of the three-room establishment. Here, budding entrepreneurs pitched their visions, each story interwoven with the aromatic essence of freshly brewed coffee.
THE GOODCERY is more than just a place for a perfect pour-over or a casual meeting spot. It stands as a testament to the rich agricultural tapestry of Northern Thailand, offering an array of local products for sale. Shelves adorned with wild honey and exotic rice varieties, rich in vitamins and cultivated with care, showcase the bounty of the region's harvest.
Every corner of this venue tells a story of community and ambition, where the local meets the global, and where every sip and bite supports the sustainable growth of local agriculture. THE GOODCERY is a beacon of Chiang Mai's entrepreneurial landscape, perfectly blending the essence of a coffee shop with the pulse of a...
Read moreREALLY promising new venue with a range of tasty coffees and desserts. Loads of space, tasteful furniture, interesting rice and other produce for sale. A few suggestions: 1) the name sounds/looks weird in English (come up with something more memorable yet appropriate; 2) Turn down/up the ac - too cool for comfort; 3) cake needs to be served with a fork and/or knife (not 2 tiny spoons); 4) non-fresh display versions of the desserts do not make a good advert for the real items; 5) if banana cake is kept in the fridge, it needs to be warmed up properly before serving; 6) re-think menu organisation to avoid confusing customers. 7) any possibility of a parking area? 8) paying separately for food and drinks (two different tills, right alongside each other) is kindof annoying - can't this be avoided? 9) coffee was nearly cold by the time the desserts arrived (not ideal, connected to (8) - please avoid; 10) sorry, but there are too many staff, not adding to...
Read moreA shockingly impressive discovery! The menu is Burmese known for dishes with salty, sour, bitter, and spicy. The watermelon w/ the Burmese sauce was spicy bitter salty and sweet a unique and powerful combination making it a must try. The others we tried was the smoked eggplant dip w/ cucumber again a powerful tasting dish absolutely loved it. Their meat is meticulously picked out from only one approved vendor to ensure quality and value. The item is their flank steak and again w/ an exceptional Burmese flavorful sauce. We ordered another one being it was so amazingly tender and good. They also try to specialize in offering only organic wines that use very low sulphites sparingly. A+. We questioned why Michelin hasn’t uncovered this place yet, but being their fairly new it would probably likely explain it. The sauces make it a gem of a find, really incredible...
