We were a group of 5 friends who visited EMMA for lunch on a Thursday.
The atmosphere definitely deserves a 5* - it was beautifully decorated, with a lot of natural sunlight if you come in the day. However it felt like that was all it got going for it
The service - really leaves a bad taste on our tongue. I got to the restaurant first and asked for a large bottle of San Pellegrino, the waitress acknowledged... But didn't bring it to me. I had to order again, only to discover that they ran out of large San Pellegrino, and so I got a large bottle of still water and a small bottle of sparkling instead When the 5 of us were ready to order, it took nearly all 5 of us to wave at the staff to get their attention After we placed our orders, the food took a slight bit longer than expected, despite the restaurant being only half full Here's the kicker for the service review - During the meal - we asked for 5 spoons, because the table only had forks and knives. The waitress came with ONE spoon. We told her we need 5... She walked away with that one spoon... And never return?!?! I had to ask again from another staff
Food - it was okay. The hummus and baba ganoush was very nice, but everything else was very average. My sea bass had a slight bitter note which I didn't appreciate. The salmon was overcooked. The moussaka was more potatoes than meat. The duck confit was the nicest of...
Read moreWe booked a specific table for my wife's birthday. I came personally and show to the manager what table i want. When we arrived, the table was occupied by other guests (friends of the manager). The manager was extremely surprised, which is why we were not happy. The planned family celebration was ruined by loud conversations of neighbors who were a meter away from us, and it was impossible to speak with each other. Answer for the manager: why i was not happy- your fault spoiled the family birthday party- and all what i heard from you “why you are not happy?”, as an apology to us... they offer not to include a tip in the bill. Waiting of main dishes - 105 minutes, there is no typo, more than 1,5 hours we wait for our main course, which were not submitted at the same time - absolutely idiotic, i’ve ordered the duck and fries, they brought it different time. Half of guest’s didn’t wait the main dish- and went home hungry. It's worth noting that, as an apology, hot dishes were not included...
Read moreDecent option in Boat Avenue for what I can only describe as more like modern Mediterranean - not quite modern Greek. Service was slow (though they apologised for it)- it took nearly 30 minutes for the starter to come out, and I had been seated an hour before the main arrived. Veggie dishes were quite flavourful, but the salmon was small and a little fishy. Overall I paid around $42 USD for a main, a starter and a side + a bottle of sparkling water which is ok for the ambiance and quality.
Knocked down to 3 stars because it reminded me of why I usually never order salmon when I’m dining out (I’m traveling and wanted some salmon)- I can cook it better at home. Also for the host(?) who just looked at me and didn’t even bother to greet me when...
