ร้านส้มตำตานวน — Restaurant in Karon

I was looking for some Som tam in the area since all the ones we have tried are more seasfood flavoured rather than spicy, I suspect it’s because Phuket is tourist heavy and most of tourists can’t handle spicy food well.

The papaya salad is very well made, with a good amount of spice to it, we decided to get the one with salted egg, this added additional flavour which we were very happy with.

We also ordered the duck mince salad to go with some white rice, the flavour was very good with a hint of chilly.

Lastly, we ordered some bbq chicken, unfortunately it was sold out at the time, but the owner recommended the pork/chicken wings, we went with the pork which was nicely cooked and a decent amount of crisp to the outside.

There are a few selection of beers in the fridge in the centre, along with some soft drinks (coke, Fanta, Sprite etc), this is self service and they’ll add it to the bill at the end without having to wait to be served.

The location of the restaurant is along the side of the road, with fans inside for cooling, there are plenty of parking space for motorcycles, we saw a few locals dropping by to get takeaways, to us this is always a good sign since we love local eateries. They also have a sink at the end so you can clean your hands after eating the bbq with your hands.

The price is very good compared to the restaurants along the main roads in the tourist areas.

Overall I would recommend this eatery for their decent prices, authentic flavours, easy of access and...

Food is very delicious, authentic and spicy - but you can request for less spicy.

I love the vermicelli salad, look at the amount of seafood for just 100 baht ❤️

สามดาวครึ่งครับ..ร้านอาหารอีสานแท้ๆที่อยู่คู่ถนนนี้มานานหลายปี..ตานวนคือเจ้าของร้านผู้บุกเบิก..ส่วนใหญ่ก้อมักจะเรียกขานกันว่า..ตานวน..ตามๆไปกันไป..ปัจจุบันพี่นวน..ไม่ได้อยู่ประจำร้านแกมีรถเคลื่อนที่ไปขายประจำอีกตจุดหนึ่งในกะตะเหมือนกัน..ส่วนที่ร้านก้อมีลูกสาวและหลานๆประจำอยู่ที่นี่..ก้อแซ่บครับ..มีเมนูอีสานหลากหลายเมนูให้เลือกแซ่บได้ตามใจ..ราคาก้อสบายไม่..มีของปิ้งย่างด้วย..อยู่ห่างจากหาดกะตะไม่ไกลเท่าไหร่..ถ้าอยากแซ่บแกล้มวิวทะเลหาดกะตะ..กะรน..ก้อหิ้วไปนั่งหน้าหาดูได้..ร้านเค้ามีจานช้อนบริการด้วย..แต่ถ้าเลี่ยงได้คือใช้ให้น้อยก้อดีมีประโยชน์ต่อโลกและธรรทชาติ..ขยะจำพวกโฟมและพลาสติกมันเยอะมากกกกก..เป็นแค่จุดเล็กๆที่มีประโยชน์ต่อโลกและธรรมชาติบ้าง...
