I ate at this place a year ago, enjoyed the food and decided to visit again this time. I ordered a fried fish dish - it was served reasonably quickly, noice.
But when I started eating, there was something wrong with the fish, I'd never tasted this before but it was... Powdery in texture and didn't taste off but tasted like nothing at all. It was well prepared and all, but the fish could have been frozen for a long time, idk.
So I very politely (pi khrap style) expressed to the staff that it tastes not good, to which they only reacted with a slight disbelief and showing me the actual fish in a "you're crazy, farang" kinda way.
I sat back down, waited if they would have any further thing to do or say, nobody did for a while, so I started to leave and went to pay for my drink - I assumed they wouldn't charge a dish there was something wrong with, especially since I also barely ate any of it.
But indeed they tried to charge me for it and I, again, politely expressed that I don't wish to pay for food that wasn't fresh. Again, I expected some human decency but of course they started yelling at me like I cursed out their families instead.
Very quickly, one of them just decided to end the conflict and just charged the drink and rice, but boy was she fuming with fury at this monstrous farang who dared to request not to pay for food that must be good because they prepared it!
I asked them to try the thing themselves, they wouldn't - I'm automatically an idiot who doesn't deserve consideration.
So yeah, just a warning, if you end up going, in case you also get served food that's not quite right, just pretend it's the best thing you've ever eaten and just pay for it to avoid being screamed at.
Pathetic attitude toward a paying guest... I hope they are just racist and are actually nice toward...
Read moreThe Koi Restaurant is a "must" for anyone who likes good Thai food at a Thai, and not, tourist price. Be warned, you might have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for your food, but it's worth waiting for. No warmed up food prepared in advance here. All freshly cooked.
Sit, enjoy a drink and relax while you wait.
My recommendations are: chicken and cashew nuts, tom yum kung, green Thai curry or Massaman curry etc, and be warned, each dish is usually enough for 2 people. Very good vegetarian and vegan food also. Just ask. For children who do not like Thai food. Chicken nuggets and french fries are available.
A very good local restaurant, worth a visit. I've been going for 10 years now and never been disappointed. Nice staff as well, always cheerful...
