El Gaucho Thonglor — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict

This placed came highly recommended by our hotel (Marriot) and looked promising when we went in. We've been eating Thai all week, which has been great but wanted a steak. Seemed a bit pricey but we were there so we ordered a filter trio, bone marrow, side of Veggies and two ceaser salads and two glasses of wine. Nothing was good. The ceaser salad was in my top 3 worst ceaser salads of all time. Dry, no flavour and I've had a thousand ceasers like all of us. Steak wasn't hot, and certainly wasn't good for the price, not much flavour and poorly cooked in my opinion. Bone marrow was ok. Side of Veggies was smaller than my daughters fist lol. Even the wine, feels like they didn't store the wine properly, seemed a bit sour. I only said that my salad wasn't great, they said they would talk to the manager, but of course it was on the bill. I didn't bother saying anything, I ate less than half. That dinner which was completely underwhelming was $8,027 baht. They added a 10% service charge as well, yet to see that in Thailand. Excellent meat, nice environment and finally El Gaucho is offering special menu with its “all time favourite” with reasonable prices (990 for a 200 g Australian grass fed filet + sauce + side). Plus, they offer the water which is something that I appreciate in a city where many restaurants keep pushing customers to buy (with no other options) the Acqua Panna for 250 THB. I am Italian. In Italy Acqua Panna (which is Italian) is not even that prestigious. There are excellent spring waters that cost 50% less and have a better taste (I understand it’s subjective), both in Thailand and imported. El Gaucho offers filtered water for free. This is reasonable and sustainable. This creates loyalty towards client like me who goes out often and don’t want to spend on water. The service is excellent with great waiters who speak perfect English. My only suggestion is to start offering gluten free pasta / bread to meet the needs of some western customers who might be celiac or gluten intolerant. Absolutely...

So couldn't be bothered to go too far from the hotel pool in the heat for lunch today so stayed close to hotel. Muu Hotel amazing but for another review. So just next door is this delightful Argentine Steak House. Great little place indoors for air con out doors for heat. Burgers were the flavour of the day! Single patty cheddar burger 🍔. Double would be for those with a much larger appetite. Good size patty,. Meat cooked how you want it. Delicious!!! Great alternative after a lot of local cuisine. Garlic bread was pretty special too!
