Tung Lai Shun in Bangkok is a well-established Chinese restaurant known for its authentic Beijing-style cuisine, particularly its lamb dishes. Located in the Sukhumvit area, the restaurant has built a solid reputation among locals and expatriates for consistently delivering traditional Northern Chinese flavors in a comfortable, no-frills setting.
The menu features a variety of signature dishes, including hot pot with thinly sliced lamb, stir-fried lamb with scallions, handmade dumplings, and classic noodle dishes. The lamb, in particular, is a highlight—tender, well-seasoned, and prepared using methods typical of halal Beijing cuisine.

Read moreThe epitome of a Chinese hole-in-the-wall place. This Northern Chinese/Taiwanese-ish joint has all your standards - beef noodle soup, hot & sour soup, steamed and fried dumplings, stir-fried string beans, pickled cucumbers, and stir-fried string potatoes. All the dishes were delicious! A couple of the wait staff spoke Mandarin and we think they have a Chinese chef in the back. Although the tables and floors were a bit greasy, typical for a hole-in-the wall, the fried calzone-style pancake with chives was done perfectly - fried light and fluffy! The presentation is not DIn Tai Fung, but compare - double the portion size and at 2/3 of the price to DTF - this place is on-point. USD40 for 9 dishes!
Pro-Tip: 250 Baht for a 50 frozen house-made dumplings to-go.
No parking, but easy walk from the BTS, cut-in from Soi 41, the first sub-soi behind...
Read moreTong Lai Sun situates in a small alley in Sukhumvit area. Who would’ve thought that there is such a wonderful authentic Chinese restaurant there. Compares to the price, I’d personally say that this restaurant is underrated. The food is absolutely a bliss. Dumplings are super yummy (I’ve tried goat and vegetable dumplings but I’ve heard that their chives dumpling is also great) Stir fried lamb with cumin is excellent. Spicy and full of flavor from cumin. The meat itself is tender. As for dessert, try fried flour with assorted red bean paste, I was so full but in the end managed to finish the plate! I was surprised of how crisp but still soft on the inside and not oily at all. In conclusion. Try lamb cumin, dumplings (goat, veggies or chives) and assorted red bean in flour. As for tea, try Pu’er tea. It will help with your digestion and also...
