Octo Seafood Bar — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Subdistrict

We threw a birthday party for my girlfriend here recently. It was a mixed group of expats and Thais. Off the bat, staff were inattentive and absent to the point we had to collect menus ourselves and order drinks at the bar three times as no staff were around. Not a good start.

When the food arrived, seafood was resonable and well presented but average at best, western dishes like pasta were especially underwhelming with little seasoning and quite bland. We asked for the lights over the table to be turned on to eat but were told "no it's the owners concept to have to lights low!". So we were forced to eat in the dark. Madness.

The staff didn't even bother to clear the table of dirty plates after dinner and then randomly brought out the cake without warning despite main course still being eaten, including by the birthday girl herself! Me and another guest had to clear the table ourselves. Despite having brought the cake out, no plates, cutlery or even a knife to cut the cake was provided, again I had to go up to bar to request plates and forks as staff were nowhere to be found. Absolute shambles.

At the end, they wouldn't honour the previously agreed 10% discount for birthday parties but by this point we couldnt wait ti leave the restaurant. The staff told us we could take the remaining champagne to the bar area to relqx after a chaotic meal, only to stopped by another staff member as we walked over who said we couldn't take the glasses! Huh!.

I paid 20,000THB but never again. Soooo many better seafood options that actually care about their customers to choose from in Bangkok. Dont waste...

Used to love this place before COVID. Always had fresh seafood, large beer selection & professional service. Now when returned with a friend, it was HORRENDOUS - you can see why on the weekend there are no customers.

No fresh seafood (nothing in water tanks), new unprofessional staff who don't speak english (they tried their best but it was like theyve never served before!).

First draft beer glass was spoilt. I don't want to even touch on the food topic - the crab they gave was non-existent!! Basically scraps covered by sauce and massive vegetables.

We ordered squid but I've NEVER seen such poorly cooked, flavorless and squeaky squid in my life.

Sat near the bar, and my friend had beer poured all over them during the staff changing their kegs - rotten and horrible smell all over her!

And after a 'sorry' there was no other apology/service - expected...

Bad service ever!!!

I drove alone and arrived before dark. There were orange cones blocking the parking slots in the front of the restaurant, no one around. Firstly, I tried to call the restaurant many many times, no one picked up. Second, I parked on the side and ran into the restaurant for help. The waiter(ress), working on April 25 before 6pm, answered my questions that the phone was just upstairs (then? No need to pick up?) and the parking attendant didn’t start his shift yet and walked away!!!

With Sukhumvit Soi 24 traffic, me myself couldn’t just stop my car in the middle of the road and get out to move the orange cones aside for parking. But the waiter just didn’t care…not his...
