Baan Kanya Nonna restaurant review. English/ Spanish
Pros: No Additional service charge, taste, location, fast service, second floor w/ AC Cons: may not be for budget travelers. $$$
A friend invited me to check this place on a Tuesday. I was heading to Taco Tuesday on soi 18 but this place was close to it. We sat on the second floor, I would recommend you go there as the second floor is AC. We ordered 4 or 5 dishes including fish. The fish was tasty and fresh. The other two dishes( as in the picture and video) were a bit spicy but very delicious. I had two plates of rice just to finish the spicy sauce from both dishes. We ordered the dishes with little salt and mild spicy and I believe they delivered on that. The staff were attentive and nice. our bill came to around 1300 baht for all 5 dishes a beer, coconut and soft drinks. Overall, I’m glad that I came to this restaurant instead of tacos. I will definitely will come back and I will note the name of the dishes next time.

Read moreI wish I could give this a zero. Please do not go here. We ordered our food, they said okay. Waited 10 minutes for the first dish to arrive. It was the wrong dish. We said we wanted pork and they gave chicken. We said pork again, and the reply was "eat this chicken." We had to order pork again, so they added it to the order list, charging us for both. We asked for two drinks, only one came. Two additional dishes arrived another 10 minutes later. The final dish and final drink never came. After waiting and waiting we asked for them where they checked with the kitchen to say it wasn't available. The dish that we had confirmed earlier miraculously disappeared 30 minutes later, which we only learned about after asking for it again. Two members of the table didn't eat anything and yet they still tried to charge all the items on the order list. This place is scamming people by charging dishes they can't make, bringing wrong dishes so they can charge twice, and charging you if you don't even eat. Save your money and sanity, and please...
Read moreI found this restaurant to be an "interesting" choice if you are looking for a "exceptional" take on Thai food. The flavors seemed to suggest someone might have had a brief introduction to Thai cuisine. The restaurant is conveniently located in an area with a delightful "aroma" accompanied by a charming view of nearby bars with "unique" clientele that add to the overall vibe. If you appreciate a high hand-written bill, this place has you covered, although it might take a bit of effort to clarify the charges. If you enjoy food and service that are equally forgettable, this gem is a must-visit, at least for a keen tourist like me who has been to 37 countries...
