If you’re in Bangkok and looking for a late-night bite or a classic breakfast spot, Jok Ruam Jai is worth checking out. Located not far from the bar area, it’s a convenient place to grab some food after a night out, especially since they’re open until 3 AM.
I came here in the morning and tried their famous porridge (jok)—a well-known breakfast dish in Bangkok. It was okay; warm, comforting, and quite standard. Not mind-blowing, but definitely filling.
I also ordered the seafood Pad Thai, but to be honest, I didn’t really enjoy it. The flavor just didn’t hit the mark for me—maybe a bit too flat or lacking the punch I expected. On the other hand, the pork dish I tried was actually quite good—chewy, savory, and had that street-food charm.
Price-wise, it’s affordable, and the portion sizes are decent. The place is casual, a bit rugged, but has that authentic local feel.

Jok Ruam Jai is the place to go if you’re craving authentic Thai-style rice porridge (jok). I came here early in the morning and was blown away by how comforting and flavorful everything was. The jok is perfectly smooth and rich, topped with tender pork, a soft-boiled egg, and a generous sprinkle of fresh ginger and scallions — pure heaven in a bowl.
The portions are generous, and you can customize your toppings, which is a big plus. Service is fast and friendly despite the crowd, and the prices are super reasonable for the quality you get.
This place gets busy, and now I totally understand why — it’s simple food done perfectly. A must-visit if you’re in Bangkok and want to experience breakfast...

Upside—Their Jok are definitely great. Definitely great for breakfast.
Downside—the place is real dirty. (Locals believe this level of cleanliness is ok) Hopefully their Kitchen is cleaner than what they are presenting at their front store.
For early morning, they only sell Jok and local Thai buffet but after 10:30 AM all of their menu will be available for you to enjoy.
WARNING : they use MSG on most of their dishes (just like other local Thai restaurants) if you are allergic to MSG. Please be sure to mention this before order.
Or just show this Thai sentence to their staff “ไม่ใส่ผงชูรสนะ”
Hope this...
