Caesars Pizza Aonang — Restaurant in Krabi Province

We went to this restaurant based on all the amazing reviews and I must say after having spent dinners in some of Krabi's best rated restaurants, I should probably lower my expectations of what is available in Krabi. But then again, I personally would have appreciated a review just like this to understand this may not be the level we know from bigger cities such as Phuket, Pattaya or clearly not Bangkok.

The restaurant is located right on the main road next to Makro and obviously it would be rather noisy. We were hoping that there is a more tranquil and "Italian vibe" available indoors, but considering that it is all open air, that was not the case. Thus it is anything but a place you wish to sit down, have a great bottle of wine accompanied by some antipasti and or pizza.

The service was friendly and the owner came by the table to check on us. Unfortunately, the menu is highly limited, which is our mistake as we didn't do a thorough research and thus we ended up with pizza and pasta. As general pizza lovers at least once a week, I must admit the pizza was not bad, but could have been better with a better quality topping and a more crispy dough. I would assume, based on my taste buds, that the pizza oven was not a wood oven and thus the taste of the dough is less crispy. We also had tagliatelle pesto and we didn't like it as we were not expecting a creamy. Instead we were hoping for a nice classic oily, garlicy pesto with pine nuts or the often used Asian substitute of cashew nuts.

Overall it was ok, but that is also why we give the 3 stars. A better or wider selection of dishes, away from the classic and boring bruschetta and Caesar salad would have been appreciated. Also a small selection of wines would be great, especially since ItalAsia (a large wine supplier) also has presence in Krabi and features very affordable wines. I ended up walking over to Makro to buy a bottle of decent wine for which we gladly paid the corkage of THB 300, which they nearly forgot to charge if we would not have mentioned it after having seen the bill didnt include it.

Five star food but one star service. Visited here multiple times and our last visit was a HUGE disappointment, we ordered a pizza, salad and chips, requested it to all arrive together. After 5 minutes our salad arrived, 15 minutes later our chips arrived and we waited 45 minutes for our pizza. Other customers arrived after us, a group of 5 (who were very friendly with the bearded man who walks around) and another couple all ordered and had their food before we got our pizza. The bearded man made a half hearted laughing apology and when I tried to explain the situation he walked off… No compensation offered for this service. We felt as though unless you were a friend of the guy who works there you weren’t of any interest to them, he cheerfully goes up to tables of people he knows and then glances over at the rest of the restaurant without any interest. This is a must-visit pizza and pasta spot in Ao Nang. The food is prepared fresh and dishes closely follow the traditional Italian recipes. There are a wide variety of pizzas, pastas, and other dishes served at Caesars with plenty of vegetarian options as well as seafood menu items. The restaurant is tucked away in a soi off the Ao Nang main road, but can be reached via a 10-minute walk from the road or alternatively via motorbike/rideshare. The prices are also reasonable and match the quality of the ingredients used.

The service here is amazing and the owner/head chef simply incredible. This establishment is very passionate about Italian cuisine and the atmosphere is laidback and comfortable.
