What started as a great experience quickly turned sour by the end. The atmosphere and music was great, and the service and food were all great for the starters, drinks and mains. Then the service just kind of stopped really. We had to grab someone at random to take our dessert order (Chocolate Fondant) which seemed fine. Then waited, and waited, and eventually had to ask another waiter if our dessert was on its way. He said it was and then left. When he returned he dropped in a cocktail menu, I explained we just wanted the dessert and not another drink, and got a quite abrupt bark of "it's coming".
Another 10mins passed by and eventually the dessert arrived. When eating it, what seemed like the manager passed by and asked if we were enjoying everything. I commented that everything was fine but that there was a bit of a delay with the dessert, to which he abruptly responded "well they have to make it" to which I highlighted that we had waited 25mins+ for them to make it! The fondant was only ok by the way!
Next up, the bill. All seemed ok apart from the rogue bottle of sparkling water that we didn't order - highlighted this and it was quickly removed. Not one to be a skeptic but do wonder if this was all a bit of a check if they can get away with it.
Honestly, up to the point of the dessert - this would have been a 5star review, but everything that followed it really left a terrible taste and was very...
Read moreNot sure why this restaurant gets such a high rating - have eaten in many restaurants around the world and spent last 4 months in Asia but I have to say this restaurant is seriously overpriced for mediocre food. There is a Muslim restaurant about 50 metres up the road that has tastier food for about 1/10th of the price. Also allowing people to smoke at the next table is absolutely unacceptable - when I booked the restaurant and asked for an outside table I was not told it could also have smokers. For a ‘restaurant’ of apparently this calibre I would expect more from them considering that 98% of people there did not smoke but the waitress just shrugged her shoulders as if it’s not a problem. I talked to the manager about having a separate area for smokers and unbelievably he said he had not thought of that…. To their credit they did have good wine but again seriously overpriced. If you are in Krabi, there are many good restaurants that have tastier food and are far cheaper than Cru. The singer was good and played acoustic versions of the old favourites but the funny part was he only played 50% of the time. Anyway, try the Muslim restaurant about 100 metres up on the right hand side - called Zipl - really humble place but seriously good tasty food at 1/10 of the...
Read moreI had been wanting to come here for weeks but was underwhelmed when I finally came. Really like 2.5/5 (happy they serve Aperol spritz)
Pros: Salmon tataki with pomegranate and yuzu was insanely delicious. Beef carpaccio was delicious, filling and a well thought out dish. Squid with potato and chorizo was fire! Large tasty portion but with very very little squid itself.
Cons; Fried cauliflower was actually battered and deep fried raw cauliflower. I thought fried would be a crispy cauliflower without being battered. It was difficult to eat and not tasty as it was undercooked. The hummus it came with was good though but couldn’t save the dish. The beet bruschetta was just ok. I wish the beets would have been marinated but they tasted canned? The slow cooked pork had a good sauce but the fat was not rendered or crispy just mush in your mouth. I had to pick off the fat and eat only the meat to make it appetizing. Crispy pork belly would have been 10x better. The truffle mashed potatoes needed a lot of salt. The olives were a bit mushy.
No one asked to refill our cocktails and we were the only table in the restaurant for awhile. Maybe a different vibe at dinner time with better service but for the price I’ll be going elsewhere for...
