I love both Peruvian and Japanese food, so when I discovered this place I just had to try.
Chicken thigh skewer - very tender and juicy, a must try!
Hamachi yuzu ceviche - there’s lot of sauce, and the sauce comes out strong with the taste of passion fruit. It overwhelms the Hamachi and got no hint of yuzu. The taste profile is nice and hamachi is fresh, I wish the sauce is lighter.
Cheesy corn cob - nice appetizer, taste just like what you expected.
Beef stew - unexpectedly good! The taste is not the common stew kind. The spice is complex and the beef is tender, somehow it reminds me of Austrian Beef Goulash. The bread is super fluffy and crispy as well. Highly recommended this dish!
Grilled tomato - Interesting and tasty. The tomato is soaked in some kind of shoyu(?) sauce, light char on the outside while still juicy inside. There’s no smell of raw tomato left. The addition of pistachios goes really well together too.
Flounder Yuzu Kosho Ceviche - Similar concern with Hamachi ceviche. The flavor combination is great, but the sauce overwhelms the flounder too much. The yuzu is kinda light, as it’s more influenced by salt and pepper from the kosho part. However, the corn on this plate is perfect with the pomegranate(and other toppings) and the kosho sauce though.
Beef Shank - The beef is on the very chewy side that some might give up on chewing (I did finish it though). The flavor profile of this dish is great, the mustard sauce is great, the sweet potato purée is good, the salsa is refreshing, all the components goes really well with each other! I would recommend this for people who prefer chewy beef than fatty Japanese beef.
Pork Shiso Cheese skewer - I think having both purple Shiso furikake and the actual shiso leaves together is too much, I rather exclude the purple shiso. The sauce is a mixed of Mayonnaise(?) and pomegranate shoyu, which goes unexpectedly well with the pork.
I would revisit this place for the beef stew, chicken thigh skewer, and try some other ceviches (might need to scrap off some sauce if it’s too strong again, but the flavor profile...
Read moreI wish I could give 10 stars! This place offered a very memorable experience. It’s the day after we ate there and we are still talking about how lovely it was.
The location is unassuming and not pretentious, but don’t let that fool you, the food is fine dining quality. The staff are very sweet and attentive. We came early on a weekday so we had the whole place to ourselves (which was awesome) but I could imagine a cool vibe in there with a full restaurant.
We had a huge day of walking so we ordered a lot of food. We ordered edamame, cheeseburger quesadilla, papas, tear of Orotongo and the lamb dish (can’t remember the 2nd part of the name.)
The food came out quickly and omg it was incredible! Everything was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor.
The fact that they could make something simple like edamame taste so wonderful and different was the first thing that excited us.
Then the cheeseburger quesadillas, such an interesting item to have on a menu but the flavor was so good! The meat was cooked perfectly and so flavorful and I loved their house made tomato sauce that had a little kick to it. Served with delicious crunchy house made pickles.
The papas! Again, such a simple dish but so elevated!
Finally the main dishes. The lamb was cooked perfectly and it’s served with corn tortillas so you can make little fajitas!
The Tear of Orotongo (I hope that’s what it’s called) was actually mind blowing. There was an unexpected smokiness to it that again, blew us away. The blend of that with the garlicky green sauce on the plate was superb!
I really hope we can come back here again. I bet that everything on the menu is as good as the items we tried.
I cant recommend this place enough. Honestly probably better than other steak places in the area charging...
Read moreA super awesome restaurant started by Thai celebrity chef, chef off cooking up a fusion between Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. The mixture is in itself a rare find.
We were introduced to this restaurant by a Thai lady YouTuber. Made our reservation even before we reached Bangkok to avoid disappointment. Luckily we did as the restaurant was packed when we visited on a Wednesday night for dinner.
Ordered those dishes that were introduced by the Thai YouTuber like the beef jerky, the hatote, the young buffalo steak and so on. Honestly, we were all surprised with the taste and texture of every dishes served in a good way. The taste was something very new to us, with an explosion of flavors from different dishes. The ingredients used were simply top notch!
The restaurant featured an open concept kitchen and we were seated right beside it. We enjoyed the action inside the kitchen while savoring our dishes. Service was exemplary and it felt like a Michelin starred restaurant kind of standard.
Prices were reasonable and there were parking spaces within the compound of the restaurant.
Truly enjoyed the culinary experience at this restaurant and I had already asked a number of friends to...
