A nice and friendly Italian restaurant in the heart of Hua Hin, "Carlo" is across the street from the Centara. It is next to the Wannara Hotel.
I booked a table inside because the person who answered the phone told me "outside is for smoking". Inside wasn't air conditioned... or it didn't feel air conditioned because they have the windows/doors that divide inside from the outside open. So, they had two fans blowing air at our table and cooled down our food while blowing the parmasan cheese across the table. Oh well...
We had the brushetta for an appetizer and everyone opted for a type of pasta for our main courses; ravioli, penne with tomato sauce, spaghetti with prawns and tomato sauce and lasagna. The food was tasty, but the main dishes did not come out of the kitchen at the same time, so the air from the fans blowing at our table cooled the earlier dishes. When the waiter grated the parmasan cheese onto our pasta, the wind from the fan blew it across the table like snow.
The atmosphere was lively and our dinning party didn't really care about the fans or the staggered food arrival as we were having a great time talking and catching up.
The prices here are about what you expect to pay for a "farang" food experience in a sit-down restaurant with a table cloth and linen napkins. Not cheap, but not over the top.
The hostess and waiters speak English and "Carlo" is happy to explain the menu.

Read moreIt is the best restaurant in the world. Highest quality food, and also a wide range of foods, and the bread before the meal is freshly baked, crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside. Every single dish is 10/10 or even more. Amazing service, the master chefs are always coming out every few minutes, checking if you are having a wonderful meal and time. Amazing staff and fantastic environment. The chicken breast is not hard or dry, it is tender and soft, but cooked thoroughly. Everything is amazing. Before the meal, they give you 4 fair pieces of the freshly baked crunch baguette, and the best bread sticks ever. You can make a reservation, and in my experience, they pick up the phone very fast. The chef just came to me and asked if everything was fine, and recommended a few desserts to have. All the staff are very kind and caring, and I am not lying. It is almost always fully booked because it is without doubt, it is the best restaurant in the world. For people who read this, go to Carlo Ristorante Italiano. I just got dessert, and it looks amazing, you will see the photos attached to this review. Everyone,...
Read moreFor 4 years, this used to be our favorite restaurant in Hua Hin until last night.
Every time we come, the staff would take our order and everything would be perfect.
Unfortunately last night, the owner took our orders and let's just say, it kinda ruined it for us. Personally I will not be going back there again.
The saving grace was the staff who corrected the order and the chef who made the pasta (Had to send it back the first time)
Pizza is usually to die for but this time it was not edible. I had a piece and left it. My partner told me it tasted like frozen pizza (I've never had frozen pizza so I wouldn't know)
We would always order dessert (Tiramisu) but after the pizza debacle, my husband didn't want to risk getting 2 days old dessert.
Its a shame because we really liked the restaurant. That was just my experience. Maybe it was not a good day for us or the restaurant.
I would still recommend you all try it out. Just make sure the owner isn't the one taking...
