This review definitely excludes the “Geschnetzeltes” as this was quite delicious with the Rösti. However, the overall food experience was apparently rather poor. We may have ordered the wrong dishes off the menu. The schnitzel appeared to be frozen, it was very much on the dry side. The local dishes appeared to have been “watered down” a bit as they were lacking the punch and freshness of the local cuisine. The Thai omelette I cannot describe in any other way than “an absolute fail”. At the same time the Swiss cheese - sausage salads’ dressing appeared to be mayonnaise based which was a no go for me. The Thai starter platter was also rather a miss than a hit - the satay dry, the fish cake a little bland and appeared to be a convenience produce as well, the spring rolls were ok-ish and the meat balls were ok-ish as well. A positive note were the side salads of the dishes.
In general it appears that the European options are a little better than the local options but having had European options in Hua hin before the dinner today scored on the lower end of the table.
Considering the other European food options I probably would not return for the food but much rather for the drinks as sitting there and having a drink is actually quite decent and can be fun - lots of people to watch.

Read moreIt was our first night in Hua Hin and we didn't realize a) how few European restaurants had survived Covid, and b) how strict Hua Hin was enforcing the 9pm shutdown for restaurants, so we were grateful to find Heidi's and told we were welcome to dine in at 8:15pm. But the experience was not enjoyable, as we felt rushed from the moment we entered until the second we walked out. She insisted we had to be out by 9pm sharp. As we left the area, we noticed several other nearby restaurants still had customers sitting and enjoying their dinners, and in the coming days we were also in restaurants past 9pm without any problem, so I think the situation was never as strict as Heidi perceived it. After all, Germans are known sticklers for the rules haha. In any case, our food was very good (fresh ingredients, nicely seasoned, beautifully served). The complementary bread (homemade?) was a nice touch. The house salad dressing was especially outstanding. We look forward to visiting again in...
Read moreUpdate (September 2025): Since I now live further away, I only returned there today after a long time. It is still a highly recommended place for good home-style cooking (international, Swiss, and Thai dishes) with very reasonable prices and extremely delicious food. It is also good for groups, although they might be better off making a reservation. Good Western and authentic Thai food. Reasonable prices. I'm often there. Every time really delicious food and an excellent staff / service. Don't skip this place. Update because of dinner on 22 December: Try their goulash soup!...
