Siam Viking is the kind of place that feels like a secret. A Nordic-inspired joint tucked away in Hua Hin, glowing softly against the tropical night—think Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks, but with a Scandinavian twist. Inside, it’s simple, unpretentious, a little wooden haven that invites you to sit down and take it slow.
The star of the show is the haddock, served up on a sturdy wooden board. The batter is crisp—thin enough to crack, but thick enough to hold onto that golden crunch. Inside, the fish is flaky, moist, the kind that tastes like it’s just seen the sea. It’s fried with care, not drowned in oil like the many tourist traps. It’s honest, straight-talking fish, the kind that reminds you why fried seafood became a classic in the first place.
The chips are thick-cut, the sort that can handle a generous splash of malt vinegar without turning to mush. They’re sturdy, satisfying—nothing fancy, but that’s the point. Then there are the mushy peas—bright, a little sweet, a green counterpoint to the fried richness on your plate. It’s the kind of meal that feels nostalgic, even if you’ve never had it quite like this before.
Order a cold beer and take in the scene: locals and travelers alike, enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. There’s no rush here, just good food, served with a quiet confidence that comes from knowing it’s done right. Siam Viking isn’t a place that shouts; it doesn’t need to. It’s the kind of spot you seek out when you’re tired of pre-packaged experiences and just want a damn good plate of...

The menu looked great with classic fish dishes and some interesting specials. Food was very good quality, especially the fish (I had the battered Haddock and a friend had the cod) super fresh with a nice flavour, texture, and aroma.
The mushy peas were a nice touch and went well with a dash of malt vinegar.
Service was smooth as the staff had great English language skills and were helpful and attentive.
The restaurant itself is a small, beautiful wooden building with an air con section and tables outside. If it's the weekend, I would probably book ahead for the air con room.
There's a little wine shop at the side of the restaurant, we didn't go in, but there looked like a great selection.
Roadside parking was fairly easy on a weekday. For the weekend it may be more challenging. You may need to park at Tamarind Market...
Read moreHad dinner here Monday 19th December 2022, it was good to see the restaurant busy too. We had their “line caught” cod with chips, mushy peas, side salad and choice of sauce… which were all fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻 For dessert I had to enjoy that “Scottish” master piece .. the deep fried Mars bar, which was yummy. I enjoyed my tour of there wine cabin and the small shop offering all kinds of culinary goodies. These guys know how to deliver good tasty fish n chips and other dishes too. I looked at what the other diners were having and that looked appetising too. If your in Hua Hin, hungry and want a great experience, then go to “ Siam Viking Fish & Chips” you won’t be...
