Worst restaurant experience in Nai Thon. There are so many issues it is hard to know where to start.
I ordered two cocktails upon being seated. Three requests and three dishes of food later there were no cocktails in sight and no signs of any coming. I went to the bar myself to get anything which i could drink with what was left of my meal. The cocktails turned up about 5 minutes after that and weren’t worth the wait. I don’t expect the earth and they were still the worst margharitas I have had in Thailand.
And let’s talk about that bar which required a personal visit. Less a bar than a never diminishing collection of dirty glasses and empty bottles collected from the tables to provide a backdrop to your meal. I saw no effort at all to clear it - i don’t know how anyone worked around it.
Next up, the mono-syllabic staff lack the management they need to empower them in their roles. They struggle more than other restaurants with basic English and seem anxious in having to deal with customers, leaving them to run around looking busy while not getting the basics done (see cocktail ordering above). It’s a constant state of panic.
Finally, the food. Saved only by the freshly grilled fish and the shrimp wrapped in noodles, which provide the only justification for a (generous) second star, the fried fish dish consisted of chunks of fish in some coating with a stir fry sauce producing a soggy, flavourless mush which tasted even worse than it looked. Again, by far the worst dish I have been served in Thailand. If i had made it myself at home i would have thrown it out - it definitely cannot warrant being restaurant food. My girlfriend made an effort to eat it but had to decalre it inedible.
And the real rub in all of this is that when we left the restaurant wanting something nice to eat, we crossed the road to the food stand opposite. There we found helpful and friendly staff, only too happy to quickly serve us delicious fresh food with no drama at all. They even came down the road on a motorbike to apologise when it transpired there had been a minor mix up with our order. It shows that good food and good service are not hard to achieve where there is willing. Nai Thon beach club lacks that willing for me and that is why it is best to...
Read moreWhen I first walked into the Naithorn Beach Club Restaurant, I immediately felt a sense of warmth. The manager, Care, greeted us with such kindness that it felt like coming home. For someone who isn't native to the area, such a reception can make all the difference. The ambiance of the place is amplified by its pristine location - right in front of the captivating beach. Dining here is not just about food; it’s a treat to the eyes with every glance out the window.
Being French, the choice of traditional German cuisine piqued my interest. It was a delightful venture into unfamiliar culinary territory. Every dish hinted at the rich heritage and tradition of Germany, and I appreciated this authentic experience far from its homeland.
I’ve been living in Phuket for a while and have had my fair share of meals across various restaurants in Naithorn Beach. But Naithorn Beach Club Restaurant undoubtedly stands out. The commitment of the staff, their swift service, and the overall experience is unparalleled. I cannot recommend this place enough to both locals and visitors alike. It's a blend of great food, breathtaking views, and genuine...
