Phutawan Seafood Naithon — Restaurant in Sakhu

We’ve eaten here a few years ago and travelled specifically to enjoy the great seafood again.

Meal started well with great service, drinks, smiles, we’d ordered BBQ snapper and after 30mins still no fish, everything else we ordered came within five minutes so was cold by now.

Asked how much longer to be told “4 minutes”, after almost an hour the fish arrived, it didn’t look great, unfortunately it was bone dry and tasteless.

Then the problem started, we complained and the change of attitude was unreal, smiles turned to anger and apparently it was our fault as it takes 35 mins to grill a snapper and we should know this! They should tell customers this at the point of order, END!! There was no apology at all!

Asked why it’s taken an hour and he decided to take a picture of the insipid fish, then angrily threw the bill at me when I refused to pay for it!

We paid for what we’d enjoyed in good faith but this wasn’t enough, the change was literally flung onto the desk as he absurdly walked away in disgust!

Disbelief really, can you not complain after waiting patiently for an hour surrounded by cold food to be presented with a poorly cooked fish?

Such a wonderful restaurant!! After looking at several other restaurants on the beach, we settled on this one and never regretted it! It's like home here ! Very fresh and delicious food, prepared with love, very large portions - many Thanks to the Chefs! There's a lot of space and a lot of tables around, so people stay away from you and don't look into your mouth, don't see what you're eating, and don't hear what you're saying, and there's also a lot of freedom and privacy. The waiters are very well-behaved, like in a 5-star hotel, not annoying, not too talkative, not too curious, very neat and tactful. They will come to your aid immediately if you need it without asking. They won't bother you with questions or make fake smiles . A very decent and great team! I would like to sincerely thank Nun and Cham for their irreplaceable help provided to me and my daughter! These guys will help you out of any trouble! Baan Phutawan is situated just by the entrance to the Pullman. They specialise in seafood which we can vouch is super fresh as we saw the local fisherman bring the days catch to the restaurant and the owner was negotiating the order with him, price, quantity etc. We were quite hungry so ordered several starters along with a Tom Yum, Larb Gai and a Som Tum crab. All dishes were wonderfully presented and very flavoursome. For seven dishes, rice and a couple of drinks we paid just over 1,300 baht, very good value considering the freshness and quality of food.
