VERO Trattoria & Wine Bar Phuket — Restaurant in Sakhu

The Vero is an Italian restaurant at the Pullman Arcadia – and I have to say even in Italy it would be difficult to find pasta & pizza that tastes as delicious as at this restaurant.

Chef Nicolino Lalla is a passionate Italian who loves his food, a true Italian with heart and taste – from the high-quality Italian classics to the new innovative cuisine, Chef has an eye for detail and the palate.

Vero offers in addition to the à la carte operation an excellent Italian brunch (first Sunday of the month) with a noteworthy good mortadella. In addition, there is an Italian LIVE cooking night once a week which has it all. All ingredients are of the highest quality, mainly imported for authenticity and you can taste it - my favourite pasta was the homemade ravioli and a sauce based on a homemade Italian sausage.

In addition, I had authentic Rigatoni Carbonare - of course with Pecorino, egg and a decent bacon (not with cream - never!), these tasted brilliant, my compliment for this marvellous Italian dish!

To top it off with culinary delights, I also had to try the classic Pasta Puttanesca in the Vero, and what should I say it tasted as well as home with “Mamma!

The service at Vero is excellent, you will always find them courteous and professional - but never intrusive - my compliment to the restaurant manager! Vero has a very well-stocked wine assortment - there are hardly any wishes left. The atmosphere is Rustic Italian - for me personally, it is a bit too dark in places to take a look at the great creations. The outdoor area invites you to linger over the sea and the backlit menus are a nice touch for people with bad eyesight.

Every first Sunday of the month, a very special brunch takes place in Vero - the number of participants here is limited and bookings are essential. In addition to a live DJ, all sorts of culinary delights are served in several courses and all beers, wines, champagnes and soft drinks are included in the price. For every gourmet who is within fifty kilometres radius must participate at least once – it’s no Ordinary Sunday.

I would recommend to every hotel guest, but also visitors, to be pampered in this Italian restaurant of the highest class yet casual setting.

We arrived in the evening at the nice Pullman hotel and took on the recommendation of trying the Italian restaurant VERO - supported by the many positive reviews. We received a warm welcome by the friendly staff who was very attentive and were brought to a nice table outside with view of the ocean. After ordering a tasteful wine (primitivo) we got served a complimentary basket of bread - which turned out to the be best meal (try the garlic olive oil!). We ordered Spaghetti Vongole and Ossobuco - both highly recommended by the staff. The Vongole came totally dray and without any sauce. Upon checking the staff offered to add oil (however the whole point of Vongole is to cook the clams in white wine sauce; you can't just add white wine sauce). They somehow scrambled to add some liquid within 2 minutes. The taste was bland (lack of salt; probably added water mixture as sauce), no spicy touch as recommended by the staff and overall very disappointing.

The Ossuboco looked more like a fricassee than anything else. The taste was just fine but nothing like an Ossobuco is suppossed to taste. It was also lacking the chunky meaty part and could have been slow cooked longer for better flavor and more tenderness.

We are aware we're in TH and don't expect Italian standards but this was unfortunately disappointing. There are other Italian restaurants (e.g. Five Olives) that have far better quality. Overall a very disappointing experience at a very...

Our visit was a gastronomic delight, highlighted by the Siciliana pizza and the tagliatelle tartufo. Both dishes were a testament to culinary excellence. The Siciliana pizza was a flavorful delight, with each bite exuding authenticity and freshness. However, it was the tagliatelle tartufo that stole the show—the earthy, aromatic essence of truffle permeated the dish, creating a symphony of flavors that lingered pleasantly on the palate.

The staff's accommodation of my vegetarian preferences was commendable. They seamlessly tailored both dishes to suit my dietary needs without compromising on taste or quality, showcasing their attentiveness and commitment to guest satisfaction.

Beyond the culinary journey, the ambiance contributed significantly to the overall experience. The cozy atmosphere and tasteful decor added a touch of authenticity to the Italian dining experience.
