Ginpao Phochana — Restaurant in Samphanthawong Subdistrict

Newly renovated Chinese restaurant in the mall (next to Lotus exit), creating clean, deluxe and arty ambience. It provides wide ranges of homie Chinese food, nice portion and delicious. Owner is local Thai-Chinese. Staff can speak Chinese and are very attentive and helpful.

There are 2 train style seats (max 4ppl), 2 small round tables near grande Chinese decoration walls (max 3ppl), 2 small (2-4ppl) + 2 big "Chinese round table" (with lazy Susan). The environment is full of coziness and sense of reunion, whilst staff work efficiently and everything is clean and tidy, and you do not feel too bustling like in some traditional Chinese restaurant. A a nice place for solo, small or big groups. The name means "JinBao Tea Room" (Tea Room is usually associated with Cantonese homie dishes) but cuisine is more like fusion Thai-Chinese cuisine with Sichuan/northen China flavour. Recommendations - Sichuan cuisine (mildly adapted to Thai tongues). All their dishes are scrumptious.

Don’t miss - Stir-fried squid in salt and chili, fried goat meat with spices, stir-fried potato and Sichuan sweet and sour soup.

What to expect - Parking space available in the same building (1 hour free parking with a stamp from the restaurant). Conveniently reachable from the MRT Wat Mangkorn station. The restaurant recently reopened after moving down to first floor. The place is nicely decorated with a nice ambience. The owner and staffs are attentive and very very friendly.

Don’t be surprised - The new location does not have big tables. Big group would have to split tables.

I was worried about the comments from those who rated this place low. But we decided to come anyway since we’re craving Chinese food. This restaurant DID NOT disappoint.

We ordered 3 items and here’s how we’d rate it: Spicy sechuan chicken Baramundi deep fried with sweet sour sauce Spicy fried fish

The sweet sour sauce really balanced out our spicy meal. The sechuan and mala were very generous and it was super super super good if you’re craving spicy.
