This was our second visit to Sei Ryu Sushi on Sala Daeng Soi One and we returned to the restaurant with one solitary notion guiding our choice of dining destination: to reproduce that culinary sensation that we had on our first visit. Namely, to eat some of the best sushi Bangkok has to offer. For a glimpse of what we felt in deciding to return, take the time to watch the documentary 'Jiro Dreams of Sushi' and you will begin to dive into the shark invested pool of delight that drove us in a piranha frenzy to snap up our sushi fix. We arrived at Sei Ryu and headed straight for the sushi bar, to watch first hand the work of the sushi chefs as they prepared with meticulously knifed detail our coming experience. Each fish had been picked from the fish market with the careful attention that would produce each sashimi sculptured slice of taste. Miso soup arrived as we ordered a beautifully presented dish of sashimi presented on ice. We began to prepare our wasabi and soy sauce with our chopsticks in eager anticipation. When the sashimi arrive it was a sight to behold. In pairs, we each took a similar piece of sashimi to enjoy at the same type of fish arriving at the same pleasure at the same time, as couples do. Just lifting eat piece told a tale of its cut and origin, the right dimension, weight, and texture told the history from ocean to knife. Folding the sashimi across the soy sauce in one motion and then laying each across the tongue, in a perfect spooning embrace of taster and tasty, in a symphony of fitted salivary enzymes to the fish at a molecular level that was nothing short of stunning. Bite after bite was enjoyed this way, slowly and in detail of the relished sashimi goodness, each piece a voyage interrupted only by drinks of ambrosial sake to mark the passage from one taste to the next. Triumphantly we declared upon finishing this campaign of delight, we...
Read moreJust dine at the restaurant . Im a solo female traveller who often share travel expeiences with my friends whenever i travel . Hence being a solo traveller i dine alone . But your staffs keep staring at me making me feel uncomfortable . I'm not sure if they are talking about me . But i think its better and nice to give your customers some space and privacy . Your food is nice and i ordered a few dishes . The only thing to make this place a better more fabulous japanese restaurant since there are so many in bangkok and customers have plenty of choice is to improve on customer service enhancing customer experience . PS . With travellers coming around the world . Its a pity none of the staffs speak or understand english . And staff pushing one to another to take my order . And i actually found the restaurant on the internet and specifically came down to try it . Disappointing . Only one staff with only knowledge of a few english words took my order after the rest push to her . No one take the initiative to come forward and help preferring to watch . Afterwhich she the tomboy looking one become quite rude by asking other unknown waitress to come and ask me something when i did not have any enquiry . ( that is after ive already placed my order ) . This is something that need to be look into . Basic customer service to consumer . Enrol staffs in english speaking course . Even for basic one . Then it can be prepared to welcome...
