Taburete — Restaurant in Si Lom Subdistrict

Two Spanish restaurants within two days, what's wrong with me? I must have passed by Taburete 100s of times in the last few years but never set foot in. So somehow after today's earthquake as things settled down a bit, not many restaurants were open due to the building inspections taking place by the local authorities. Well Taburete was open and its charm drew me in. I needed some earthy tasting food and Spanish cuisine can do wonders for that matter. We tried only three dishes but none disappointed. I like the beet salad , it could easily be served without the goat cheese and it would be even better. The ham cheese sandwich, 4 small bites were just right, not filling not too cheesey. We enjoyed lunch. Cozy restaurant with great decoration like you could dream about Spain. We enjoyed some tapas. Croquetas with jamon iberico very good. The salad with the jamon also good. Portions small so for two persons you need to order a few starters. Paella or rice with pork and chicken was regular. I would have liked it a little more baked. It was almost arroz meloso, the creamy version of paella. The broth was nice but not super strong meat taste so the end result a little too bland. All natural ingredients for sure, the quality of the ingredients are beyond doubt. Imported Spanish draft beer. Nice and cold. For Thai standards perhaps a bit pricey the more the restaurant setting is more like a bat than a seated...

As the restaurant is quite small, it can get very crowded on the weekend. Thus, customers will likely to experience the Spanish bar culture where people come, get some drinks, have Tapas, and socialize, surrounded by crowded but fun Spanish bar atmosphere.
