Phad thai boran — Restaurant in Talat Nuea

The name of the local restaurant is, "Phad Thai Boran", or translated as the original Phad Thai.

They have two versions, the standard Phad Thai, and their Phad Thai with large prawns. Don't bother with the prawns - the classic original Phad Thai will do just fine.

I do strongly suggests then that one sticks to the Phad Thai and don't bother with the other dishes on the menu; For example, recently made the mistake to try the Stir fried basil with Chicken, it was indeed a mistake.

The shop until recently used to be open air with ceiling fans, which was pleasant and adequate for a shop of this price range. But now there are air conditioners installed to please the local clientele, which makes the atmosphere somewhat peculiar and the scent of food is trapped onto your clothes.

One other recommendation, do try the desserts placed on the table - these are, "Khaonom Touy", essentially steamed flour topped with semi salted coconut milk....

My fiancée and I stayed right up the road from here for two months and probably ate here every three days. Great Thai food, generous portions and the staff are very sweet and kind.
