⚠️ Overpriced, Disrespectful, and Disappointing
Honestly, this was a complete letdown. I came here hoping for a classy jazz night, but left feeling ripped off and disrespected.
First off — the prices are absurd. A mediocre bottle of wine cost 1,700 baht (around €45), and that’s before adding random charges for things like cashew nuts we never even ordered. Total bill? Around €70 — for what? Bad acoustics, rude service, and a cramped seat at the back of the room where we couldn’t even see the band.
When I arrived, they sat me in what was literally the worst spot in the entire place, like they just wanted to hide me. I didn’t complain, because I try to be polite, but it set the tone for the night.
Then came the wine situation. They served red wine in an ice bucket, and when I asked why, the older guy in a red jacket gave me a snarky explanation about “in his country they chill red wine because of the heat.” Fair enough — but his condescending tone made it feel like I was being lectured, not served. He kept hovering in front of our table too, completely blocking our view of the performance.
Later, when I wanted to pay, the same guy told me to “follow him” to the cashier — and when I came back, our table had already been given to someone else! No warning, no courtesy — just gone. That level of unprofessionalism is shocking, especially in a place that charges this much.
Also — the acoustics were awful. You expect to at least enjoy the music at a jazz bar, but even that was disappointing.
Avoid this place unless you enjoy overpaying for mediocrity and being treated like an inconvenience. There are better bars, better wine, better music, and definitely better service in...

Read moreAfter a relaxing 7-day trip through northern Thailand, I was excited to end the journey with a night at Saxophone Pub in Bangkok. I’d heard great things about the live music, cocktails, and overall vibe, so I walked in on a buzzing Friday night with high expectations.
The atmosphere and music were indeed lively, but the service completely ruined the experience. I was first seated at a corner table upstairs, and when I politely requested to move to another empty table, the waiter (an older gentleman, quite snappy) reluctantly agreed. That was the first red flag.
Things got worse when I simply asked for a glass of water. Instead of a normal service response, the waiter told me that I could only get water if I bought a full bottle of Johnnie Walker! Otherwise, I was told to “just drink the beers” if I was thirsty. Ridiculous. I had actually walked in ready to order cocktails and food to enjoy the evening, but after this interaction, I cancelled the order and walked out.
I couldn’t help but question whether this was:
A case of poor service and an arrogant staff member,
Or worse, some racial bias — as Indians are often unfairly stereotyped in Thailand as “boom boom tourists.”
Either way, it left a sour taste. For a venue with such a strong reputation for music and atmosphere, the management seriously needs to address staff behavior and basic hospitality standards. Guests shouldn’t feel insulted or unwelcome in a place that promotes itself as one of Bangkok’s top live music pubs.
Plenty of other venues in Bangkok offer great music, drinks, and respectful service. Sadly, Saxophone Pub was not one of...
