Stepping into a German bakery, I'm always looking for a taste of authentic craftsmanship, and the Bratwurst Stick definitely seemed like an innovative take on a classic. The concept—a grilled bratwurst nestled inside a pretzel stick, slathered in curry ketchup—is a creative fusion that sounds good on paper. It's like a German-style hot dog, and I was excited to see how it played out. Unfortunately, the execution fell short of the clever idea. The curry ketchup, while flavorful, completely soaked the lovely, chewy pretzel stick, turning its beautiful texture into a soggy mess. The structural integrity of the sandwich was a real issue, and the wurst had a mind of its own, constantly slipping out. I tried my best to keep it all together, but I eventually gave up and disassembled the whole thing, resorting to a knife and fork to eat the sausage separately. Despite the messy experience, there were some definite high points. The pretzel bread itself was fantastic before it was doused in sauce, and the bratwurst was grilled to perfection and tasted great. The core components are clearly excellent; they just didn't work well together in this particular format. Would I go back? Absolutely, but I'd stick to the classic pretzels and maybe grab a sausage on the side. The bakery clearly knows its way around good bread and sausage, but this particular combination needs a bit...
Read moreLovely bakery and coffee shop. Excellent locally sourced Thai bean coffee. Fresh croissants for breakfast at 7am when they open. Great way to start your day.
Owner and baker is from Berlin - this shop is a genuine German bakery, very helpful and friendly, all the staff were friendly and helpful when enquiring about all their other pastries.
A little on the high price end but it seems this is the norm for dine-in coffee shops around Bangkok. If you want cheaper coffee, I suggest you buy from the street stalls, though Zimt’s coffee I can highly recommend and decent size cup too, not like some other stingy “western” coffee shops I've been too.
Music inside was a little too lively for 7am, in my humble opinion, had a bit of a techno rave genre to it, but I suppose it added to its uniqueness. There is outside seating raised off/away from the immediate road, if you prefer the heat and...
Read moreAfter so many good reviews I expected the authentic German bread. Unfortunately, this is not on the level of even ordinary German bakery. There’s no crispy crust (not on bread, not on pretzels, not on Danish), taste of bread and its texture are ok here but back in Germany I would not buy my bread with such taste again. The biggest disappointment was the grilled sourdough toast with avocado and poached eggs: a lot of onion, avocado just for color, eggs are ok but the presentation isn’t to the level. For the price I would have got much better quality at my hotel breakfast. Tut mir leid, eine Deutsche Bäckerei hätte es besser...
