This was the last of the three boat noodles restaurants I tried in Bangkok. Wow. I never expected such tasty boat noodles. They really blew me away. Very underrated!
They gave us a large bottle of cold sugar cane water as soon as we sat down. Wow. Simply wow. I am no food critique, I’m just someone who loves eating, so I cannot (and don’t know how to) go into the details as to how this was the perfect sugar cane juice. I’m sure you can find this somewhere in Hong Kong (but for a way more expensive price), but I certainly wasn’t expecting this. When you come, please be sure to order a bottle of sugar cane water if they didn’t already give you a bottle.
We ordered the small bowls so that we could have a taste of all of the different flavors. I don’t think there was a specific standout favor to me. All were perfect. I highly recommend the flat noodles and egg noodles. Despite this being bait noodles, the soup tasted very sophisticated. There was a taste twist in the soup, and I found that simply amazing. I sincerely urge you to come and try yourself!
Insane value for money too. I seriously don’t know how they manage to keep this place running by charging only ฿15 for every bowl of small boat noodles. Simply mind-blowing. Other-worldly type of tasty food.
This is THE place to visit for boat noodles. Cannot recommend...
Read moreI love how efficient and cute this place is. Tables are ready with condiments, drinks and cutlery. Soups arrive in minutes after ordering. The soups are tiny and delicious, a perfect size so you can adjust your lunch exacly according to your hunger. For me it was a late breakfast and I was full after 4 bowls and a coconut custard (sooooo yummy!!). All the soup bases are delicious in different ways but my favorite was Tom Yum which was very peanutty crunchy and had a topping of fresh sprouts! The meat comes in a variation of cooking styles: meatball, fried, rosted.. not vegetarian friendly. It’s widely popular among locals for lunch. It was practically empty at 11 when I arrived and by 11.45 it was superbusy and bustling of life, I seemed to be the only tourist and getting service in English was no problem. Highly recommended when visiting Bangkok! It’s easy - comfy - delicious - and cheap!! 15 bhat for a portion. (The only thing I cringed at was when I ordered a black coffee and received an insanely sweet bottle of something cold slightly coffee-like… I guess I should have expected that! 😂 The tai tea...
Read moreThis is definitely a must try in Bangkok. Getting there might be a little bit complicated, but it is worth the effort.
In terms of pricing, the food in this place is quite reasonable. The boat noodles comes in 2 sizes (small and big) and there is the spicy and non-spicy variant. Those that can't take spicy food should refrain from the spicy version as it is very spicy. The normal variant allows one to actually savour the full taste of the broth. Try the normal one first and if you feel adventurous, go for the spicy one. The reason why the broth is a little dark is due to addition of pig's blood in it. However, you can't tell that there is blood in the broth as it blends in well with the rest of the flavours.
There are also pork cracklings on the table which is a nice addition to the noodles. Gives it a bit of a bite.
Do try the boat noodles here. It was one of the best I have tried, but I did not try the ones at the boat noodle alley. So maybe there are other...
