Revisit recently; #Food still good #Prices going up at no frills, no air con, no toilet place. Pitcher of water lukewarm as room, no ice. Raita up to 100 Baht, was 60 baht before. Out of proportion to local prices increase. They may be trying to out-price themselves from the market. Other nearby Indian restaurants at that location have aircon and toilet (example Punjab Sweets)
Check out Tony Indian food across the street at canal. They have veg and non veg dishes and no frills prices as well as no aircon but they actually can let you use upstairs toilet. Also several Indian restaurants within seconds walking distance with aircon, toilet, comfortable seating some higher priced some similar to Basmati. Less off the beaten path unless you live near Little India is Kebabs and Curries in central bangkok. Very good food at a great price. At The One, Rachada outdoor market. Chicken Tikka Masala 120 baht. Lamb Josh Rogan 170 baht. 1 minute walk at Thailand Cultural Center MRT.
Old customer scammed. Pre-covid prices were a lot lower and this no frills place was worth going to. Open air, no toilet.
On arrival automatically was brought a masala tea (that i did NOT order) assumed it was house tea while i wait for food. queue can be long until food comes. when i get the bill i see they charged me for tea that i never ordered. so called manager was talking to other man working there that brought tea and they were both jolly and laughing. manager has the balls to ask me what i want to do about the tea when it is crystal clear. This is their new scam to raise the income and frankly it is very tacky...

Usually referred to as SHIVA’s place (name of the owner) by regular patrons, this unique cozy Indian food/sweets cafe and restaurant by the name of BASMATI International & CID stands out as a boutique venue among the plethora of similar offerings in Pahurad area of Bangkok, often referred to as ‘Little India’
The food is delicious and clean, whether you order them from the menu or pick from the readily available curries to enjoy with basmati rice or Chapatis!
I enjoy all the food, drinks and snacks at this venue but a personal favorite is worth a special mention - Paneer Paratha - and then followed by some Rasmalai dessert and Masala Tea which is freshly made at the rear entrance of the shop, and the Tea Maestro is receptive to your needs - sugar, slightly sweet, no sugar etc.
The food pricing and portions are very reasonable and the kind owner Mr.Shiva JI has ensured that basic items like samosa, bread pakora, a small cup of tea is capped at the lowest possible price (currently 10 baht) so that everyone can afford to eat!
The venue has a large Television which runs different programs throughout the day starting out in the morning with prayer programs and later followed by news etc, and screening sports like cricket when available.
Whether you crave a quick snack, a proper meal, some delicious sweets, a glass of COLD LASSI or a cup of delicious, HOT MASALA INDIAN TEA, immediately head here! ✍️
P.S. Food Service time is generally unpredictable! especially for a la carteOften fast, but at times -...
Read moreWe ordered Dal, Mixed Veg, Mushroom Chilli, Malai Kofta and Rice along with Masala Tea at the end of lunch. The food was yummy and authentically Indian. The tea was great as well. The owner of the restaurant was very friendly and checked multiple times if we needed anything else. The dishes were not too expensive and well made. We couldnt finish all we ordered, so they packed the left over food for us. I highly recommend this place if you are in Bangkok and crave for...
