Hua Seng Hong (MBK Center): A Versatile Anchor for Chinese Cuisine Hua Seng Hong, situated on the 6th floor of MBK Center, excels by offering a seamless duality that few Chinese restaurants manage: it functions equally well as a quick, quiet bistro lunch spot and a vibrant venue for comprehensive family dining. The key to its success is an expansive menu that accommodates both needs. For the solo patron, simple, high-quality dishes—like the expertly prepared beef noodles shown—provide a satisfying midday meal without fuss. The kitchen manages to keep its standards high on these individual offerings, making it a reliable destination for a frequent diner. However, the restaurant truly expands its scope for larger groups, offering an extensive selection of complex, traditional Chinese dishes. This breadth of menu, coupled with the excellent, attentive service, positions the restaurant as a consistent, trustworthy option for weekend gatherings. The environment itself is a pleasant surprise for a busy mall location; the space is clean, nicely styled, and, crucially, not overly crowded, especially during the weekday lunch rush. This quieter ambiance makes the experience relaxing. While the pricing is standard for a quality mall restaurant, the consistency and clean setting make it well worth the cost. Hua Seng Hong proves itself to be a dependable anchor, delivering quality Chinese fare whether you are grabbing a solitary lunch or hosting a full...
Read moreThis restaurant serves Chinese food and the menu is quite extensive from dim sum to other ala carte stir fry/ rice/ noodles/ soup dishes.
Portions are generous and food is delicious. We ordered the sweet and sour whole bass, salted yolk prawns, chili Kang Kong, braised tofu, fried rice and fried egg noodles hokkien style all in small.
The fish was fried crispy and they were generous with the vegetables in the sweet and sour sauce. The sauce is perfect for me, it isn’t too much such that the fish turns soggy.
I like the salted egg prawns too, medium to large prawns were used but I think there were 16 of them in it and I didn’t really expect to find that many!
The braised tofu was a surprise, it has orange cuttle fish, squids, prawns, ginkgo nuts, mushrooms and of course tofu in it. The gravy was ‘sweet’ and my kids loved this dish.
The fried rice and the noodles are ordinary but the noodles has a lot of ingredients in it - shredded meat, char siew, prawns, sprouts etc
Overall I think the food is really tasty and is worth every cent of the bill. Only thing that mars my dining experience was ... as it was near closing time, the service staff started to sweep the floor. I wouldn’t have minded that much if he just gently sweeps but he was beside us and sweeping so hard that I see dust flying all around me while we were finishing our meal. That was very unhygienic to me!

We dined at this restaurant on 25/11/24 (dinner time) and were overcharged by about 26%. The staff showed us an e-bill on their business phone with a total of 2,739 baht, which we trusted and paid, even leaving a tip for the good service. However, when we asked for a receipt, the printed bill showed the actual amount was 2,161.50 baht.
When we returned to question this, the cashier immediately refunded the 570 baht difference without hesitation—very suspicious behavior. It seems they rely on tourists not asking for receipts, as the bill was in Thai and hard to verify.
The food was excellent, but this dishonest practice ruins the experience. Always ask for an official receipt...
