The Ordinary Bar — Restaurant in Wat Sam Phraya Subdistrict

The bar is more than just a place for alcohol and music—it’s a space where people come together, regardless of who they are, because everyone is equal here. The name “The Ordinary” doesn’t mean normal; it’s a celebration of the fact that everyone is ordinary. I love the vibe here, where activists and everyday people unite to play and sing music together.

During the protest years, this was one of the bars I visited to make my heart feel warm and at ease, and feel connected. I heard that it will be closing soon, but it will always hold a special place in my heart.

What a find!

We stumbled across the ordinary bar after walking from our hostel and wanted somewhere comfortable to sit with a drink.

We walked across the short bridge and saw the cool outside area with all the amazing decorations.

The drinks menu was perfect for what we wanted. Great cocktail and beer selection for a good price.

Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a chilled drink with good music and fantastic service. The guys running the place were super chill and friendly.

Cozy small and very well hidden bar, inexpensive. Thursday till Sunday with live music. They also have food, but I didn't try it as I had eaten already. Looked decent. Loved the atmosphere, a feeling as it was in Backpackers 30 years ago. Many mostly younger Thai customers too. If you are looking for action, then you are better off in Kao San. If you like to chill having a few beers or cocktails, you are at the right place. Tip: Monday to Thursday it's more quiet, on weekends it's hard to...
