I've stayed at the Rambuttri Village Inn for 6 nights whilst in Bangkok. For places like Khaosan Road, the temples of Wat Pho and more, this is a great place to stay. The rooms are clean and offer everything you'd want; air conditioning, good shower, TV (not that I've switched it on; I didn't come to Thailand to watch telly), clean and comfy bed (although quite hard) and a safe and a fridge, which you'll definitely need given the amount of water you need to drink here. On the roof of one building is a pool with sun loungers. It's not the biggest and sun beds are popular. I've not struggled to get one of an evening but I'm travelling solo so didn't need two together.
There is one drawback and that's the noise from adjoining rooms. The walls aren't that thick so noise seeps through the walls, and the layout means the tv in the opposite room is right behind your head as you sleep. On one night I had to repeatedly knock on a neighbour's door at 4am because the tv was on so loud it woke me up and wouldn't allow me to get to sleep again (especially as it was a news channel banging on about Trump and Brexit; the latter being a reason i had to escape the UK or lose my sanity). That was only one night out of 6 and in fairness to the neighbour he apologised and turned the volume down.
On the food front, there is a connected restaurant for breakfast and food through the day. I didn't get up in time for breakfast so can't say if it was good or not, but the restaurant in the day was fine, although walking a couple of hundred metres into the adjoining streets will get you a far better feed for less Baht.
There is a drawback and that is location. Public transport routes won't bring you all the way from the airport to Rambuttri, and walking in unaccustomed heat right off the plane and train will leave you drenched with sweat. That said, a tuk-tuk is good value so it isn't a deal breaker because the location the hotel is in is fantastic for night life and history. It does mean it's a bit of a pain to explore the wider vicinity if you're on a budget like me and tend to walk to see the sights.
Finally, would I stay here again? Most certainly I would. However I think I'd split my time between more hotels; spending a couple of nights here and then maybe moving to another hotel so I can access more of the city on...

â Rating: â â âââ (2/5) Review Title: Disappointing Stay Despite Good Location
I recently stayed at Rambuttri Village Plaza in Bangkok, and unfortunately, my overall experience was quite disappointing. While the location is convenient â close to Khao San Road and surrounded by local eateries and shops â the hotelâs service and management leave much to be desired.
Room Service: The room service is extremely poor. Basic amenities such as water bottles, coffee mixes, are never replenished unless you specifically call and ask for them â and even then, it often takes multiple reminders. It feels as though the staff are doing the bare minimum, without any proactive effort to ensure guest comfort.
Breakfast Experience: Breakfast was the biggest letdown. The buffet is the same every single day, with very limited variety. Most shockingly, several items like cakes, pastries, and juices often run out early â and when you ask, youâre simply told, âfinished.â Iâve never come across a hotel that fails to restock breakfast items this way. Itâs frustrating, especially for guests who come down even slightly later in the morning. The quality of the food itself is also quite average and lacks freshness.
Staff and Service: Hospitality is what truly defines a good stay, and here it was sadly missing. The staff are not very friendly or welcoming, and many seem indifferent to guest concerns. Only a few girls at the reception were polite and helpful â the rest seemed disinterested or untrained in customer service.
Other Notes: ⢠Housekeeping is inconsistent. ⢠No courtesy or smile from most staff members. ⢠Amenities are minimal, and overall cleanliness could be better maintained.
Verdict: Rambuttri Village Plaza could have been a wonderful budget hotel because of its location and potential â but the poor service, repetitive breakfast, and unfriendly staff make it difficult to recommend. There are plenty of nearby hotels that offer much better hospitality at similar prices.
Would I stay again?...
Read moreWe had two rooms. One was on the first floor, but the one my sister and I had was basically below ground.level. When I walked in I felt like I was in a prison cell, and the place stank like mould. We decided it maybe just needed some air circulation and we didn't really want to make a fuss, so we stayed. This was a huge mistake. The next day it rained heavily in the afternoon and when I got back to my room at about 5pm the whole area where these prison cells are was flooded. I was very nervous when opening our bedroom door. What I saw and smelled was disgusting. All the sewage and rain water had pushed up through the bathroom, which by that time was covered in black. Luckily we had put our bags on the beds in the.morning, as the whole place was soaked. I went to reception and they already knew and gave me a key to a new room. What blows my mind is that they know.its the rainy season and this obviously happened before, but they still book people into these rooms. Then the male staff member they sent to help me move was shouting at me in Thai because he had to walk through the water. He refused to come in the room because it smelled so bad. He continued to shout at me, telling me I had to pack the bags (mine and my sisters) and more shouting in Thai. He was acting like this was my fault. When I tried to complain to reception the receptionist rolled her eyes and ignored me. This place was unbelievable and I'm so sad I ever stayed there. The staff at the restaurant brought two teas instead of one and also shouted at my mom because it was her fault. Bearing in mind it was a pot of hot water and a sealed tea bag, so they didn't lose anything. I feel like the staff of both the hotel and restaurant get training on how to be as rude as possible. The man working at 4am when we left for the airport was really great and was the only exception. There were also cockroach everywhere and it was about 24 hours before they drained all the water in the hotel. Who knows...
