🍜 Food wise: On its own, it was good, lightly seasoned, chewy texture, nice char flavours, some crispy parts on the Guay Tiew, silky smooth mouthfeel from the egg yolk. Seeing how some locals started adding a bit of this and that (chilli sauce, soya sauce mainly), one added chilli sauce, mixed it up a bit, woah, now it tasted even better! Now there is this element of sweetness, that lifts the flavour to another level! Simply delicious! The meats were well disguised into the mixture, the taste was also lightly seasoned, and they were succulent!
Without stirring, it looks a lot like some fancy carrot cake with an egg yolk on top. But once stirring happens, it looks a lot like some gooey oyster omelette, so clumpy, so gooey, so tasty looking.
While eating, the staff will bring around a large tray full of soup, serving every customer still eating. Now this soup, wasn’t your average soup, it was refreshing and had a special taste to it. As eavesdropped on the locals, there was lemon added, giving a special flavour and the refreshing feel to it.
Sidenote, the egg white may be slightly undercooked, so keep on stirring to allow the heat of the noodles to help cook them a bit.
✨ Ambience wise: Air conditioned. The staff will first give you a number as you stand around the roads, with some flies around you, waiting. Can be a little irritating but worth the wait.
🤵🏻 Service wise: Staff did their job.
💵 Price wise: Fried noodles with chicken and runny eggs 50 Baht Fried noodles with pork and runny eggs 60 Baht

Read moreNoodles - when you think you've seen them all, Ann Guay Tiew Kua Gai surprises with an innovative take on the flat rice noodles. Their signature noodle dishes are served fried, but not fried as in the typical stir-fried noodles. The noodles are cooked with their own batter, and then fried to resemble a pancake. Topped with your selection of ingredients, from chicken, to bacon, squid, and a runny egg, the result is a tasty and comforting meal. A selection of condiments are available on every table for that extra flavour; we opted for chilli sauce and flakes as the dish was not spicy by default.
Having been on the Michelin Guide for six years, Ann Guay Tiew Kua Gai is hugely popular. Despite our visit being on a random weekday evening, the restaurant was packed with a queue to be seated. You can conveniently request for a queue number from the host counter set up in front of the restaurant. The wait was reasonable (~15mins) and certainly worth it once we tried their food.
Prices are affordable, though the portions are relatively small. Each fried noodle dish cost us 60 Baht. A bowl of fried chicken starters was 70 Baht. Drinks were 40 Baht each. If you are visiting for a full meal, expect to order seconds. I had a second equally satisfying bowl of noodles, and one more takeaway for supper that night! We noted that there were also soup versions of their noodle dishes but all diners who were there ordered the fried noodles. We pondered ordering both but did not regret just going for their signature fried noodles.
Ann Guay Tiew Kua Gai's fried noodles are certainly a culinary delight. It is a noodle dish unlike any other. Will certainly visit again if we happen to be around...
Read moreI’ve eaten pan fried noodles far too many places in Thailand. Ann’s by far the most efficient, most mouth-watering delicious kua gai in my opinion as a local Thai guy.
You can get 2 types of kua gai: pan fried or baked noodles. Trust me and go for pan fried! Far more delicious, crispy noodles with intense smoky flavors. The benefits of old cooking style, high heat stir-fry with pork fat.
My favorite is egg noodles pan fried with bacon + chicken. You can add runny egg, white pepper, chili flakes and some tangy chili sauce to enhance the dish even more. All the flavors mixed together heavenly.
If you want extra protein, please order เกาเหลา version which is noodles dish without noodle! In this case, pan fried eggs with toppings of your choice. I still love bacon + chicken with it. Flavors still incredible, as great as pan fried noodles.
One bowl is never enough for one person. So I recommend you to try at least 2-3 different varieties. Side dishes like fried chicken bits, fried wontons also pretty nice.
It’s extremely difficult to make this dish to taste as good at home. So better come here while the price still incredibly affordable for Thai people. Basic street food price but you receive restaurant quality food in returns. Overall, happy wallet, happy belly.
I will continue to come back here for more with local and...
