The experience at Ameditan is truly unique, I can't recommend it enough.
Ameditan is the type of restaurant every city with a rich culinary history deserves, but few are lucky enough to have. The chef/owner is passionate about local ingredients and presents them in ways that not only highlight preparations traditional to the region, but also fuse techniques from a range of cultures that reflect the chef's years of experience cooking in kitchens around the world.
Every dish is presented on its own, with an explanation of the preparation and the ingredients involved. The experience at Ameditan is more than just flavor, it is about coming away with a better understanding of the culture of food in the region.
Importantly, the food is delicious.
The dinner is a set menu of 10 courses, spaced out very well, each with as much or as little explanation as you would like. You can also order seconds of any dish, free of charge. We found the meal filling but ended up ordering an extra portion of one of the dishes just because it was so good we all needed to taste it again. Water is free and you have the option of ordering something to drink as well.
Make sure you contact Ameditan ahead of time so that the chef has time to prepare for your visit. The space only has 8 seats and is only open when...
Read moreI came here for dinner with a few friends and we all LOVED it. Usually you have to make a reservation but the owner was kind enough to let us in and cook for us. He explained the ingredients in every dish so passionately and we got to learn more about Dyarbakir and its culture. Not to mention every dish was delicious. The potato croquettes especially were incredible. Overall it was an amazing dining experience that we feel really lucky to have. The owner and chef is such a kind and passionate man who really cared about our experience. He cooked and served us as the only person working in the restaurant even though we didn’t have a reservation. The food was incredible and as a vegetarian I really appreciated good quality vegetarian food which is hard to find in Dyarbakir. Highly recommend, delicious food and very reasonably priced. Thank...
Read moreI had been traveling through Southeastern Anatolia and this has been my best culinary experience. The owner and chef was so accommodating to open the place for me with very little notice. The food was superbe and the wine delicious, but above all his kindness, knowledge and passion for his restaurant, the city and his project were inspiring. If you are in Diyarbakir do not forget to go (and call in advance, unlike me), and if you are undecided about going to Diyarbakir, this restaurant alone should give you a reason to visit. Thank you once more for a fantastic meal and...
