This was, without a doubt, the worst customer service experience I’ve had at any Mado branch. My friend and I visited for lunch and were told by the waiter to sit upstairs, as there were plenty of available tables. True enough, the place wasn’t even busy—only three tables were occupied, and we were the fourth.
Despite the calm setting, we waited around 10 to 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. I had to call the waiter twice, but instead of responding politely, he waved me off with his hand and said, “Wait one minute,” in a very rude and dismissive tone. That alone was already uncalled for.
When he finally came, we ordered a starter—a chicken and fries mix with falafel—and two mains: a four-cheese pizza and a shawarma wrap. I specifically asked if the chicken starter was good for one person or for sharing, and the waiter confidently said it was for one. However, upon checking the menu, I saw it was clearly meant for sharing. I immediately went downstairs to cancel the order before it was too late.
After that, I returned to my table near the till, where three staff members were standing. I asked if I could instead order an egg with fries. One of them looked directly at me, then blatantly ignored me. I called out again a few moments later, and yet again I was told to “wait”—in a highly unprofessional and irritated manner. Eventually, the waiter took the order, but the lack of courtesy was unacceptable.
To make matters worse, when our drinks arrived, there was no glass with ice—even though I had clearly requested one when placing the order. I asked another waiter for a glass with ice, but he simply looked at me and walked away without saying a word. His behavior was shockingly rude.
Later, when my friend asked where the bathroom was, the waiter pointed downstairs, but his facial expression was unwelcoming and clearly annoyed, as if it was a burden to answer such a basic question.
Staff members at this branch seem disinterested, untrained in hospitality, and severely lacking in customer service etiquette. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience, and I sincerely hope Mado’s head office addresses this issue. Customers should be treated with warmth and professionalism—not dismissed and disrespected.
On a side note, the four-cheese pizza was underwhelming, with only three visible cheese slices and little flavor. The rest of the food was okay, but the poor service completely overshadowed everything.
This experience has made me reconsider ever returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this branch to anyone unless major...

Read moreThis was by far the worst service experience of my life. My husband and I went for lunch, and from the very first moment, the waiter’s attitude was unacceptable. He didn’t greet us properly, then snatched the menu and threw it on the table in a very rude manner.
When I asked for Wi-Fi, he waved his hand dismissively and ignored us. My husband asked again, and the waiter raised his voice, saying “wait, wait” in a disrespectful tone. We were shocked — we have never encountered such behavior in Istanbul before.
Out of frustration, we left everything and walked out. We promised ourselves never to visit Mado again in Turkey if this is the level of customer service they allow.
Before leaving, we informed the lady at the counter about the incident. We made it clear that this waiter should be removed immediately, as his behavior damages the reputation of Mado, a brand...
