I travel frequently to Istanbul for my layover and i am always in search of good baklava. I usually buy from small stores in hidden areas who make them right there, but these past two trips i was staying close to Taksim Square, so I had to find somewhere within walking distance. Last time i bought from the store that's right next to these guys, something Hafiz; they have a few stores on TS and i was ok with their quality but not truly satisfied, as i have high expectations. I almost bought from them again but I thought I should stop at Faruk's and try theirs. I absolutely love the milky baklava and Faruk had three different kinds whereas the store next door had only one. Also, Faruk had all the prices on each tray so you knew what you were buying for how much. After stoping by here I went to Hafiz, the competition, of course they didn't have the prices listed, but also every single one i asked about the price was 2000TL/KG!!! Big red flag, i hate it that all stores they first evaluate you and decide how much you're willing to pay. So right away i went back to Faruk's. And I'm glad i did. I ordered from all three milky baklavas plus more for gift. They were DELICIOUS. THANK YOU! Highly recommend it if you're trying to find good baklava on Taksim. I also tried the pasta chocolate cake from another bakery further down on the district which was meh. So i decided if their chocolate cake was not impressive, the baklava should follow suit. I'm happy with...
Read moreWe found this restaurant by chance while walking around and it turned out to be a great experience. The place looked cozy and welcoming, so we decided to go in. Unfortunately, there was a blackout when we arrived, which meant we couldn’t try their Kunafe because they couldn’t bake it. Even so, the staff were friendly and did their best to serve us.
We ordered three desserts: Walnut Baklava, Pistachio Baklava and San Sebastian Cheesecake. All of them were delicious but our favourites were the Pistachio Baklava and the San Sebastian Cheesecake. The Pistachio Baklava was buttery and sweet, with just the right amount of pistachio flavor.
The San Sebastian Cheesecake was something truly special. It was creamy and soft with a unique taste we’ve never had before. It’s a dessert we would definitely recommend to anyone who loves cheesecake.
Even with the blackout, we enjoyed our time there. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing and the staff made sure we felt comfortable. It’s clear that they care about their customers and the quality of their food.
We hope to come back again, hopefully when they can make the Kunafe. For now, we’re happy with the desserts we tried and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice spot to enjoy some...
