The ambience of place is lovely. Yet what shocked me as a guest who made reservations and paid for them, that due to our 30 min late arrival they SOLD our table to someone else and not even excused themselves. Not being late in istanbul is impossible :) ain’t give a justice to their reply: „Since you arrived late to the show we gave your place to other new people, but you can stand and wait until spots will be available“ Drinks are in range between 120-280TL. Food was average, but edible. I haven’t witness bad looks or rude straight, but there is definitely room for improvement. I sincerely hope owner of this place won’t be happy as a guest who paid and reserved table for three guests to end up standing next to bartender for 1,5hour and enjoy at table just last 30 minutes. Entrance fee per person is 150TL which is not cheap either. And probably will rise very soon. Invited trio were playing lovely music with notes of Turkish folk music in it. Sidenote: Waiters seem to be more „friendly“ if you speak with them in passive aggressive form in English. But if you speak friendly in their mother and state language which is Turkish, they seem to not care at all. Shows how they have been trained and what community of people they oriented to at this place. Not sure if I will go here again, perhaps just if my favorite artist give a small show. I took three stars out of 5 to the count of three chairs that have supposed to be...
Read moreWe are very lucky for having such a nice jazz bar in Istanbul. This was my first visit to the place and I am really impressed with the atmosphere. It is located very close to Galata Tower, inside is small but super cute, looks like jazz clubs we see in the old movies.
Uraz Kivaner trio performance was amazing. We enjoyed every single second of it. Frankly, I was expecting something good but not that great. I will keep following and watching their performances.
Regarding the prices, I think they are reasonable but imbalanced. Paying 60 TL for entrance is understandable since they are offering good quality live performance. Snacks, beer and soft drink prices are moderate. However, cocktails and spirits are very expensive. This pricing policy is pushing people to choose beer instead of cocktails, vodka or whiskey. It is resulting less choice for customers and less revenue for the club. I would recommend them to decrease the cocktail prices a bit to encourage people drink more premium beverages.
As final words, we really enjoyed our evening at the club. Hopefully, we will visit again as soon as possible. I would recommend any jazz lover to go and enjoy high quality live performances in a...
Read moreI read the other low reviews and thought maybe they just didn't appreciate jazz but coming from someone who grew up with jazz and has been to great jazz clubs all over the world, I would not recommend this place to true lovers of jazz. Truly arrogant with nothing to back it up. No, you should not speak during a set so why did the guy behind the cash register and a waiter speak loudly and laugh during the middle of a song? It was the only time I saw any people working smile. The people working there looked miserable. It was one of the many times I was glad to be traveling alone- I left after the 3rd song as I felt like I'd been polite long enough. I get that a "trio" means 3 but usually it is a piano, bass and drums- NOT flute. I would not have gone if I had known I was getting a show for people who want to say they went to a jazz club in Istanbul. LAME and...
