Sokak Karaköy Restaurant — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

A few days ago, my husband and I visited Turkey, and while exploring, we decided to try a local restaurant. Being Nepali, we were craving something spicy—something like our “chatpatey” 😅. We found a dish on the menu (unfortunately, I don’t remember the name since it was in Turkish) that had ingredients similar to what we use for chatpatey, so we ordered it and asked them to make it spicy.

The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. They asked us exactly how we wanted it prepared and even brought extra spices on the side. The dish turned out perfectly spicy, and we couldn’t resist turning it into our own version of chatpatey! My husband even stepped outside to buy some peanuts and dry roasted gram to mix in.

What truly touched us was how understanding and welcoming Mr. Serdar Hakan and the staff were. They didn’t mind that we brought in small snacks from outside—on the contrary, they were curious and happy to see us enjoying it! Mr. Serdar even asked what those ingredients were called in our language.

To top it all off, they offered us complimentary fruits at the end of our meal. The whole experience made us feel so much at home.

We recently had a business dinner at Sokak Karaköy Restaurant, and it truly exceeded our expectations. This place is an amazing hidden gem in Istanbul.

The view of Galata Tower is absolutely breathtaking — especially if you arrive about an hour before sunset. The golden hour light combined with the scenic surroundings makes it a perfect backdrop for both a memorable meal and stunning photos.

Great food and a wonderful experience. We stayed in the room above the restaurant and the owner treated us to complimentary tea, water and fruit. The staff was very attentive even made sure that our tea was consistently hot, without us even asking. Excellent service! We ate outdoors and there was plenty of heaters and even charcoals under our table to keep our legs warm. The food was well prepared. I highly recommend the meatballs and a mezze platter, very flavorful. The steak was cooked well but not the most flavorful, and the mediterranean salad was very fresh. The prices here are comparable to the other restaurants in the area and, in general, very affordable for anyone visiting the country. I highly recommend...
