WHAT MATTERS TO THEM IS TO POCKET CUSTOMERS’ MONEY!!!

5-star reviews are fake.

  1. Customer service: the waiter and manager/owner are disrespectful and unpleasant. I had to ask twice for the espresso I ordered and the second time the waiter sighed. Finally, another waiter brought it to me once I'd finished my breakfast. They are very insistent and actually push you towards the exit, putting the bill on the table without you even asking for it. I didn't stay more than 15 minutes in total. This is intolerable given their high prices!!

  2. The food: absolutely not worth the price! AVOID ORDERING BREAKFAST FOR $2 (they'll try to convince you to order it for more than 20$). IT'S A SCAM! The quantities are the same as for one person, they just serve it differently. Half the plates are not edible. The only good food is cheese, but the quantities are small. When they see NON-TURKISH customers, they deliberately "forget" certain plates. Compare with other tables. Ask for the 2 jams and the nutella. Don't let them fool you with their unlimited tea and numerous plates, let's be realistic, you're not going to drink more than 2 cups and less than half of them are edible. Water and coffee are not included in breakfast. You can ask for more bread if you like - it's the mainstay of their breakfast. To sum up pay to eat bread with a bit of cheese, jam, nutella and one egg. That’s it. No meat, or homemade food.

You can go anywhere to eat that and...

We seriously travel for food and we tried many different breakfast spots in Taksim and Beyoglu area. This place tops it all.

Cleanliness: Staff constantly wipes, cleans, sweeps to maintain the cleanliness of the store. We kinda knew Turkish people in general really care about their business and make it clean but this place was obsessed with being clean which is great.

Service: They pay attention to your every needs. Turkish tea is constantly refilled even before you finish 80% of the current one. They are super attentive and kind to guests.

Food: They are superb. Most clean places serve delicious food in my general opinion, it's quite good in this restaurant. Food portion is generous, but not overwhelming. Do try their fried doughs - it's crunch outside and chewy inside. Hot and yummy. I loved eating them with honey and cream rather than the condiments that are served on the side. Menemen and egg dishes with either sucuk or pastrami were good too.

Price: Quite reasonable for a place that's so popular. For two of us, we spent around 70-80TL when ordering one menemen, one egg dish, fried dough, a cup of coffee, two Turkish tea, honey and cream, honey walnut paste etc. Their Turkish breakfast is 60TL for two when other more touristy places charge you 60TL for just one.

Overall, this place gets 5 stars in all 4 categories. I humbly recommend this place to...

AMAZING BREAKFAST! glad we found this gem of an authentic place after a bit of research and climbing steep roads for 20 minutes from galata to eat the most rewarding and fulfilling breakfast. It was a nice variety of sweet and savoury items and service was quick. There were plenty of items and it might look like small dishes but you get full quick! We were 3 people but ordered the portions for 2 people plus menemen which wasnt included in the breakfast menu but it was plenty of food! The price for the 2 people option was good considering how badly the prices of dining out and general cost of items have jumped over the last couple of years in turkey :/, I suggest if its 3 people get the 2 people menu to try everything and add 1 or 2 items you want to try which isn't included. The waiter/waitress who served us were so polite and attentive and engaged with us especially when I had questions about some items. The "Kateh" bread was my favourite with honey and cream and when we mentioned we liked it and asked them they topped it up immediately and even gave us some to take back at the end! Very generous and also unlimited Turkish tea refills! Just be aware there are only a few tables so we did have to wait a little and was in a corner table but it wasn't an issue as the food made up for it! The restaurant serves only breakfast from 9 till 5; I would definitely...

*** Exceptional Dining Experience in Istanbul *** I recently dined at this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with the level of service I received. The staff were exceedingly friendly and courteous, always greeting us with a smile that genuinely made the experience more pleasant. Their amiable nature and willingness to provide an excellent customer experience truly elevated our dining experience. The food was simply outstanding. I had Menemen, a traditional Turkish dish, and it was one of the best I've ever tasted in Istanbul. Every ingredient was identifiable and they harmoniously came together to create a symphony of flavors that left me wanting more. Moreover, the prices were quite reasonable, especially considering this is located on the European side of Istanbul. The combination of delicious food, superb service, and fair pricing left me with an overall impression that this restaurant values its customers and wants to provide them with an unforgettable dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in search of great food and excellent service in Istanbul. I will surely return on my next visit to this amazing city!

Van Kahvalti Evi in Istanbul is a gem for those seeking an authentic Turkish breakfast experience. Our tour guide recommended this place, and it was an absolute morning delight. The service is excellent—staff are great and responsive, and the food arrives quickly. Their hot tea is free-flowing, with attentive staff ensuring your cup is never empty. The scrambled eggs with smashed tomato paste and cheese were a highlight for me. They are incredibly flavorful and pair wonderfully with the bread and wraps. Another standout dish was the sunny side up with diced lamb, offering a true taste of local breakfast fare. The fresh buffalo cream and honey were also delightful additions. We also tried their Turkish "pancakes". Crispy on the outside and stuff with all the good stuff on the inside, which includes the spinach, cheese, mushrooms and the Turkish sausage. It really elevate the flavour of the pancake. Dining here felt like stepping into the life of local Turks, making our breakfast experience truly special. Highly recommend Van Kahvalti Evi for anyone visiting Istanbul!
