The waiter who greeted us, Simon, was nice and helpful. However, firstly, we found hair on our cheese roll which they sent back and brought a new portion unrequested. Then we found a piece of cardboard on our pita bread. They also messed up our order by bringing meat casserole instead of meatballs which they then corrected. They took the rice order and pita off the bill but not the cheese pastry which we thought was not right and requested it be removed too. The bigger problem started when one of the other waiters or managers came to argue that because we ate the second portion of cheese pastry that we must pay for it. He first argued that it was normal to have hairs fall on food and that they donât make the pastry or pitas themselves so it wasnât their fault. He argued back and was rude, until he finally accepted they were wrong. Finally they brought the âcorrectedâ bill but because he was bitter about the argument, he added the rice portion back on the bill and so it was more expensive than the previous bill offered. The guy had the audacity to keep arguing that we had to pay the new bill. Argued back claiming they were already doing us a favour by removing the pita and now the cheese pastry. We shouldnât even have had to pay at all in my opinion. Any good restaurant would have offered the meal for free after such poor service and he kept arguing back for 10mins which was ridiculous. The original waiter who served us was nice as he realized the service had been unacceptable and helped to resolve the situation by assuming...
Read moreWe recently dined at this restaurant, which has more of the feel of a snack bar with seating. Although the service was friendly and attentive, unfortunately, it couldnât make up for the disappointing quality of the food.
The fries and rice were served cold, which left a bad first impression. The kebab meat that came with it didnât seem fresh either; it felt more like it had been thawed and was only lukewarm. The only redeeming factor was the lamb, which was at least warm, but even that was poorly preparedâtough and greasy, making it hard to enjoy.
The grilled peppers, which already looked badly burnt, were the final disappointment. They were completely cold, suggesting they hadnât seen a grill flame in hours.
What puzzled me the most were the overwhelmingly positive reviews this place has received. I truly canât understand how they were earned, as the quality doesnât reflect them at all. It seems more like a typical tourist trap where thereâs no effort to entice guests to return through good quality.
While the prices are generally high, theyâre not entirely outrageousâyet they donât match the quality of the food. A 0.5L Efes for 240 TL is the least of the restaurantâs problems when the food is neither fresh nor enjoyable.
Despite the friendly service, I reluctantly give two stars, but the value for money and food quality leave much to be desired. Unfortunately, I cannot...
Read moreDelicious food, great service, beautiful garden in the back, many items in the menu, fair priced (not too expensive, not super cheap, but for the portions and the quality, I'd be willing to pay more)... what else can you ask for?
I echo that reviewer's suggestion of the Iskender kebab!! It was a 10/10
At the end, I noticed they forgot to include one of my beverages in the bill so I informed them about the missing item and they offered it to me. Overall, best restaurant experience I had in Istanbul so far.
Update: For my last night in Istanbul, I had to come back. Today, the experience was even better than before. The waiter tonight was spectacular and the food was delicious.
Edit 2024: I was very disappointed that coming back to this restaurant a year later, the quality of the food and service went down drastically :( it is no longer what...
