We first came here for some sweet pastries and they were really nice. The next day, we came back for Turkish breakfast, but it was just so-so. We ordered downstairs, and I asked what was included. The waiter mentioned something like Menemen. When I asked if it was included, he said no. Then I asked if the tea was included and he also said no. So we ordered two teas as well. He also tried to upsell us more items, but we declined because we wanted to see what the breakfast included.
When the breakfast arrived, it looked like the picture on the menu but also came with two egg dishes: one fried egg and one scrambled egg. Could I have had Menemen as well? I’m not sure. We also got bread (a little dry)with it.
What’s really misleading is the description on Google of a “typical Turkish breakfast,” especially compared to what they offer here. That description mentions a variety of cheeses (we only had one), Menemen (not included), various types of bread (only one) of which were part of our breakfast, unfortunately. I think you can get a better Turkish breakfast elsewhere.
The staff tried their best, but they forgot our tea, so we had to remind them. We also noticed they forgot items from other guests’ orders too. It was a bit chaotic. The tables were a bit dirty, and they even left a cleaning cloth on ours.
One positive thing: the terrace is quite nice. But other than that, I don’t think I...
Read moreThe very first day in Istanbul, on the way from St. Sophia's cathedral to the place we rented, we stopped by this place full of all sorts of delicious, exquisite things. The man we met there, I believe he is the manager, is the manifestation of friendliness. I don't know how many languages he knows - I heard him speaking at least three: English, Russian and Turkish. But I would't be surprised if he spoke a few more. The guy probably has a black belt in customer service)) He explained to us what every dessert was made from and gave excellent suggestions. As a result, we came back every morning for breakfast and every evening for tea/coffee and some of their wonderful desserts. The stuff they sell is a quality product at an affordable price. This is not a place that buys wholesale some factory-made cakes and sells them until it's time to refill the inventory. They actually bake it all there, on the 2nd floor of the building. That's why everything I tried there was so fresh. The place is very cozy. If the weather is nice, you can sit on the terrace and see city life from the rooftop. The staff are friendly and helpful, they go out of their way to make sure you're happy with everything. When I take my son to Istanbul, I would like to stay in the same area again, just so we can start our days with breakfast at the Evin Shop and stop by on the way back home in the evening for a cup of...
Read moreWalking into Istanbul for the first time, it was very overwhelming where to go and what to eat. But when me and my family came across this bakery, we were instantly attracted. From the warming display of foods from the front to the sleek interior, it was amazing.
Additionally it had an outstanding outside terrance. It was nicely decorated and well fanned from fans everywhere so you wouldn’t get too warm.
At first we were very overwhelmed by the many options that were presented to us, but the people working at the counter helped us very much, explaining what everything contained, there recommendations and everything. We confidently ordered many things.
From the vast menu, there was a good selection of foods whether you were a kid or an adult, ranging from pancakes to manti. The drink selection as well was amazing and could accommodate any taste.
Finally the service was amazing. They were always interactive, asking us about our days and overall very nice and kind. They also took all of our conditions and followed them so nicely and perfectly. Our food was never cold or bad tasting and it always came on a good time.
In conclusion I highly highly highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice and friendly environment to eat food if you’re not sure...
