Pianto Coffee & Roasting — Restaurant in Fatih

Had an awful experience with the cafe owner/cashier there today. For context, I am a journalist working remotely in Istanbul. I live in Balat neighbourhood.

It’s actually a lovely place but for whatever reason, the cafe owner told me that I because I didn’t ask for permission to drink my own water, I wasn’t allowed to remain in the cafe??

I offered to buy a coffee on the spot, but he didn’t care. Just wanted me out. I tried asking him what exactly I did wrong and he couldn’t give a response.

I walked out and I am never going back.

For context, I have been patronising this cafe almost everyday. If he had wanted me to order more, I would have happily done it. All he had to do was ask.

A rather short-sighted business person if you ask me.

Frankly, not worth spending your time and money here since there are so many other wonderful Balat...

Lovely, cosy shop with quaint, homey décor......loved it!!! We enjoyed well-brewed latté and cappucino and wonderful piece of St Sebastian cheesecake with chocolate sauce....scrumptious! Baristas are friendly and very welcoming. Can absolutely recommend for a little quiet corner...
