Oscar Steak House — Restaurant in Göreme

Before taking any trip, I do my homework to find and mark restaurants. Doing this saves a lot of time and narrows the "what to eat" decisions that always come up. I wanted steak, and Oscar's was already on my Google Maps list of restaurants I wanted to try. Upon arrival, the owner/manager/chef sat me out on the balcony, and he was very polite and very helpful. I ordered the beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce Medium only because the picture showed thinner steaks. The white wine was very tasty, and the cheese plate was perfect. The steak came, and it was thick, juicy, and simply beautiful. My mouth started watering as soon as I saw the steak. The meat was the star of the plate, and it showed. The steak was more Medium rare, so I ate around the edges where it was more medium to not create a fuss. It was my fault, and knew that I could have sent it back. Note, it was a VERY BIG steak compared to the picture. I could barely eat what was in front of me because I was already full. It was DELICIOUS even though I couldn't eat it all. Hands down, it was the best-cooked steak, seasoned just right, that I've ever had. When they took my plate, they questioned if anything was wrong and explained that it was wonderful; I was just full. The manager must have seen my plate and returned to the table to ask me, telling me it would not hurt his feelings if something were wrong. Again, I told him it was very good; I was just full. He apologized anyway and left. A few minutes later, the manager sent over his famous Baklava. I couldn't upset him anymore, and after one bite of his Baklava, I thought this is AMAZING!!! The dessert was flaky, with a little honey drizzled on top, with the perfect crunch of pistachios and vanilla ice cream. It was SO GOOD!!! The service was above and beyond. The food was wonderful! I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience at the Oscar Steak House. My friend and I visited this restaurant because of its high ratings on Google and TripAdvisor, but our experience was a disaster from start to finish.

We ordered the T-bone steak (350g) and the Porter T-bone steak (600g), but when our meals arrived, we were shocked to find that the two steaks were almost the same size. The T-bone steak was eatble, but not impressive, while the Porter steak was inedible. The meat near the bones was raw, and the edges were burnt. We tried to eat maybe a third of the steak, but it was clear that it was not cooked properly.

When I complained to the waiter, I was met with a dismissive response, telling me not to worry and that they would "surprise" us. Well, the surprise came when we received the check and were expected to pay full price for our meals despite the poor quality.

To make matters worse, the waiter brought us a piece of overly sweet baklava as a supposed "compensation" for the inconvenience. It was clear that the restaurant was not taking our complaints seriously and was more interested in making a quick buck than providing good customer service.

I am shocked that this restaurant is rated so highly, as our experience was a complete disaster. The service was terrible, the food was subpar, and the prices were exorbitant. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would advise others to beware of the poor quality and service. We will definitely not...

A friendly gentleman stopped my wife and I and directed us to this establishment. He even said to check reviews online. I did and it looked to be almost flawless, so my wife and I went in. I'm not sure if we just had rotten luck, but our drinks orders weren't even processed. I asked where our drinks were 20 minutes after we ordered and they were brought a couple minutes later. Maybe I'm just used to larger cups in my country, but the hot chocolate we ordered was served in a tea cup, which means it was probably less than 200ml. Our meals took about 45 minutes after we ordered them. That's way too long. I did appreciate the bread and meze, but I really just wanted my meal. Turns out my meal was given to someone else, so I had to wait an additional 5 minutes. My wife's steak burger tasted average, but the steak was overcooked. Strange for a steakhouse to make you a steak burger and not ask you how you want the steak done(it was well done). My cheese burger was really tasty.
