I didn't stay there (thank God) but went there for a massage as I had a stiff neck and was flying home that day. A very dodgy tattooed manager escorted us to the spa, gave us a tour and went on to joke with my young sister, who hadn't made a booking, that since there was only one masseuse on duty he could give her a massage. We ignored him and sensing my uneasiness, my sister chose to wait for me and was told she could sit on the terrace. When I proceeded to reception to pay after the massage, the manager informed me that they only accept cash(something he failed to mention when I called for an appointment). When I informed him I do not carry cash and have used my bank card for all purchases I made in Turkey, he said I should go to the ATM to draw money. My sister and I were escorted in a car to the ATM by a very unsavory looking 'assistant' who didn't speak English. This man waited at the car for us. I attempted to draw money from the ATM several times but the transactions weren't successful. On my fourth attempt the ATM swallowed my card. The man who I thought was waiting at the car was now behind us at the ATM in the queue to draw money... We tried to explain to him what had happened but he called the manager on his phone as he was not able to understand us. On the phone I asked the manager if I could attempt to do an electronic payment from our hotel. He agreed and we were accompanied by the assistant and he waited outside our hotel for us (he provided me with his name, Abidin özdemir, and account details for payment). It was past our checkout time, our shuttle was due to collect us in 30 min and I was completely panic stricken to say the least. I explained the situation to our hotel receptionist and he phoned the Panaromic Cave Hotel and after a minute of conversation said the manager said we could return and pay with a card. I was furious! After we checked out, the assistant was gone, but as we are honest people we returned to the hotel to pay, with my sister's bank card. On arrival he removed the card machine from the desk drawer, we paid and left without engaging with him. Throughout our entire encounter with these people my sister and I felt unsafe and threatened. I strongly advise female travellers from staying at this hotel. If I was in Turkey longer I would have informed the...
Read moreLOCATION: Hotel is walking distance to everywhere; we walked 20 mins to Open Air Museum and it took 5 mins to walk most restaurants and bars in downtown. It took us 10 mins to drive to Goreme Historical National Park and Red Valley. The shuttle took 8 mins to get us to where hot-air balloons take off. Quiet convenient. There are numerous, wide-angle spots to enjoy the view of Goreme and the hot-air balloons scenery.
THE ROOM: Stayed two nights with my wife at Fairy Chimney Suite "Gül Evi" (302). Room really captured the feel of living in a fairy chimney; the walls, ceilings, everything. We could see the hot-air balloons from both windows (each facing a different angle of town) and at night time once lights out, room was pitch dark & quiet which we really enjoyed. We could even listen the sounds of few pigeons talking to each other. Once you get out of the room, the panoramic view of town is looking right at you. There were two different ways to get to the room; one via the restaurant and the other via the front yard each giving different views of Goreme.
BREAKFAST: It was 10/10. Traditional serpme-style Turkish breakfast, delicious chai from old-school Semaver plus more. Restaurant section itself is very oriental looking which we really enjoyed. The highlight for sure was the spinach dish we had: it was bomb-diggity! Not even my mom from Nazilli can master this dish to perfection like that nice lady there. Kudos!
STAFF: Somebody was at front desk 24/7. Overall very friendly, helpful, attentive and all smiling faces. Emir helped out with reservation on the phone and Whatsapp. The sweet girl at front desk helped us in planning of our excursions, answered all our questions and made useful suggestions. One staff member working in the restaurant has been working with the family for over 20 years. He turned out to be from same city where my dad was born & raised. Old school guy. He knows how to play the Saz (a plucked string folkloric Turkish musical instrument).
Highly recommend the place and if staff is reading this: Thank you for making our stay a...
Read moreOur stay at this hotel started on a high note: we were given a luxurious room that exceeded all expectations, free of charge. The bathroom was spacious and impeccably clean, its size rivaling that of the room itself. The internet worked perfectly, and the terrace views offered breathtaking panoramas of Göreme.
Unfortunately, during our stay, we encountered some peculiarities that can only be described as forms of discrimination. We were asked four times if we actually lived in this hotel and demanded to provide evidence. This caused discomfort and unpleasant feelings.
One morning during breakfast, I had an unpleasant incident when I was denied an omelette. However, just 20 minutes later, they prepared omelettes for the next visitors. The staff explained that when we arrived, the restaurant was crowded, and they were too busy to cook. However, I saw that the woman responsible for cooking was taking a break. She wasn't doing anything at that moment!
I felt compelled to report this incident to Asya, the administrator, and the next day, the kitchen staff didn't apologize, show any friendliness, or offer tea, but they still made an omelette for me.
Ultimately, the hotel itself is wonderful, but the behavior of a few staff members (the man at the breakfast serving area, the night administrator who constantly wore glasses, the person with dreadlocks) raises doubts and discomfort. I would rate it 1 star, but I won't do so because of the reasonable attitude of the hotel administrators, Ibrahim and Asya, as well as the panoramic views, beautiful rooms, and the kindness of my wife, who convinced me to give it 4 stars instead of 3.
We stayed in Cappadocia for 10 days and stayed at 5 different hotels, and yours, due to the unpleasant treatment from the staff, turned out to be the...
