Sky Cappadocia Rooftop & Restaurant — Restaurant in Göreme

We had dinner here on our first night in Cappadocia, and it was just fine. The atmosphere is beautiful with a very nice view and the staff are friendly. As for the food and service, it was below what we expected. First, you need to wait for a long time for your order to come even though the place was not very crowded. Second, the quality of what is served is not entirely what it should be. We wanted to try the meat in pot dishes. In this dish, the meat and vegetables are put in a pot, and that pot is baked in the oven with all the contents in. When the pot was brought in, I expected it to have directly been taken out of the oven. Not entirely. You could easily hold the pot in your hands. The meat inside was not super hot as it should be if it were just taken out. So basically, they just fill the pot with the contents that have already been cooked, and then they serve it inside a pot. They openly insult your intelligence, and this dish is definitely not worth the 900 liras fee.

The view was great, but we were mostly ignored by the waiter. We waited a while to put in our drink order, then another 20 minutes At least to get our bottle of wine once we ordered. We ordered an appetizer that was forgotten and he didn’t realize until much later, and we barely saw our waiter at all through the evening. Other tables were given excellent service- he took photos for them and checked on them regularly, so I’m not sure what happened with us. Even when we asked for the bill, he was taking photos for other tables and serving them for at least ten minutes until we finally went down to the bar to pay. A wonderful experience!! Gorgeous views and lovely food- we had a cheese board, the most amazing onion rings and dip and delicious hummus! (A few of the cheeses were quite salty, but it was still good and when we gave feedback to staff they said they would let the kitchen know, which is why I've not knocked off a star on food). Umit and Hulkan were wonderful waiters! I can't praise them enough- both a real credit to the business! They were professional and friendly and Umit was a real sweetheart- he helped me make our order in Turkish (I am learning Turkish) and was patient but timely.
