We recently dined at Bottarga in Kuşadası and were thoroughly impressed by the experience.
Our meal began with salmon tartare. Admittedly, it was a tad bland, a gentle start that quietly paved the way for more assertive dishes. Then came the octopus. Here, the preparation was precise, the texture tender, and the flavour a commendable balance of the sea’s essence.
However, the sashimi was where Bottarga truly shone. The quality of the fish was impeccable, paired with wasabi that was nothing short of perfection. This dish alone could warrant a return visit.
Next, we were served a mixture of razor clams and mussels. They arrived bathed in a buttery sauce, each bite rich and satisfying. The shrimp with zucchini blossom that followed was a revelation—succulent, cooked to perfection, and among the best shrimp I’ve ever encountered.
The ravioli filled with shrimp, accompanied by a sesame sauce, presented an interesting dynamic. While the shrimp’s flavour was somewhat dominant, overshadowing the other elements, it was nonetheless well-executed. We perhaps expected more buttery flavours typical of ravioli, which is what we meant by needing a bit more balance.
We particularly appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and their simplistic preparation. The simple flavors, combined with very good quality, made for an enjoyable dining experience. It’s a family-run business, and the easy-going atmosphere is enhanced by personal touches, like the owner coming to talk to you directly and explaining the menu. These aspects made our visit truly enjoyable, and we will...
Read moreWe are on holiday at here. Found this on Google map while searching for restaurants around. Both of us are super happy with the choice we made. The only thing we wish different is, if it could be nearby our home instead 🤣, so gonna come regularly.
It’s a family kitchen style restaurant and it’s all about seafood. So there is No fix menu, you will find a lovely hand writing menu here with what they offer at the day based on the most fresh ingredients they get at the day. At the end the bill will be a hand writing one too, it’s so lovely. We almost ordered everything on today’s menu and everything is so good.
Started with having octopus and mussel. Both are good, so we go for more. Having calamari, mond fish and Asian style ravioli as follow up. Everything is so good, we do not want to stop at all, want to try more. So ordering shrimp asparagus and black ravioli again.
Tips, you will get bread at the beginning, we did not get it at the first. There is no paste or garlic butter served with it. Later once the dish starts you will get it, using the bread dip in the sauce of each dishes, they are SO SO tasty, cannot miss a drip.
The restaurant atmosphere is also really good. Love the music played there, we have a relax and lovely diner experience.
For the entrance, see the last photo. We missed it at the first glance, turned back and found it. We are glad that we did not miss it at the end. To avoid others miss it, made a photo from the other side of the street to show...
Read moreOver rated! Over priced! Dont expect a fine wine & dine place but a small eatery under an apartment base. No views, No open space and fresh air at all.
Portions are small and not much of a speaciality and flavours as a personal experience.
There s No menu so you have No idea about how /what type of food is prepared and what it costs which is weird. I think everyone has a right to know what they re eating and playing for at a Restaurant or eatery. It may be a good idea at least to print daily menu for the specialities.
We paid 550 TL for an ordinary 2021 harvest sauvignon blanc wine which was ok and I had better wines at better prices tbh.
The owner (No idea if he is the chef) was not even welcoming and not willing to explain how the food is prepared. Even when we ask questions, he complained that we were wasting his time! So we were even hesitated to communicate with the guy again. As it seems, he s making bussiness with the close environment and with this 'wow' effect reviews for the first timers. Still dont get why it is so highly rated?! I mean there re amazing sea food Restaurants across the coast of Turkey.
Overall, the experience was awkard, not filling, not great tasty( especially The angler fish & seafood ravioli) , expensive for what you get and...
