I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Stratos Revolving Bar at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi, and it proved to be a memorable experience. Located on the 31st floor of the hotel, Stratos offers a unique and breathtaking concept – a revolving bar with panoramic views of the city skyline and the Arabian Gulf.
Ambiance: The moment I stepped into Stratos, I was impressed by the sophisticated and elegant ambiance. The dimly lit space exudes a sense of luxury, with comfortable seating arrangements strategically placed along the windows to make the most of the stunning views. The revolving aspect adds a touch of excitement and novelty to the whole experience. Watching the city lights slowly glide past as the bar rotates is a fascinating sensation that sets Stratos apart from traditional bars.
Service: The staff at Stratos were attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout my visit. They were knowledgeable about the menu and ready to offer recommendations based on individual preferences. The bartenders were skilled mixologists, crafting both classic and innovative cocktails with precision and flair.
Drinks and Food: The drink selection at Stratos was impressive, featuring an extensive list of wines, spirits, and cocktails. Whether you prefer a classic Martini or a contemporary mixology creation, they have something to please every palate. I particularly enjoyed their signature cocktail, the "Stratosphere," which was a delightful blend of flavors and presented artistically.
While Stratos is primarily known for its drinks, they also offer a selection of appetizers and light bites to complement your beverages. The food menu is not extensive, but the quality of the dishes I tried was satisfactory. It would be ideal if they could expand the food options to cater to more diverse preferences.
Price: As expected from a bar located within a luxury hotel, Stratos's prices are on the higher side. While the views and ambiance certainly justify the premium, it may not be the most budget-friendly option for frequent visits. However, for a special occasion or a luxurious night out, it is well worth the expense.
Overall, the Stratos Revolving Bar at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi is a fantastic spot to enjoy some of the best views the city has to offer while sipping on expertly crafted cocktails. It's an ideal venue for a romantic evening, celebrating with friends, or impressing business associates. Despite the slightly limited food menu and higher prices, the overall experience is one to remember, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and...
Read moreHaving first arrived in the UAE in 2013 we can vividly remember Stratos as THE place to see and be seen. Admittedly, it’s been a number of years since we last visited but the arrival of a new menu brings Stratos back onto our radar after a five year absence.
Exiting the elevator on the 26th floor we immediately regret having been away for so long as the views are rather impressive, even for long term residents of the city!
We begin with a generous portion of Seared Scallops (AED 135) served upon a swathe of smoky Romesco sauce and topped with beef bresaola and a Taleggio crisp. The result is a dish full of complementing textures, though it’s the tomato based Romesco which helps to bring depth to the perfectly cooked shellfish. The Seared Tuna (AED 78) is another interesting choic, prepared with a delightful charred corn salad and olive cracker.
Conveniently, we rotate past the open kitchen just as our main courses are served. Amongst the choices of miso eggplant, braised short ribs and confit duck we are most excited to discover a varied selection of beef cuts, some of which are unavailable elsewhere in the city, including the rump cap and the flank steak. We order the latter. A sharing portion that two of us struggle to finish (AED 355), despite the inevitable quality. The meat is rubbed in paprika and cooked sous-vide so as to remain remarkably tender. Sides of thick cuts chips, creamed spinach and lobster mac and cheese also impress, though the lobster is a little scarce.
The Grilled Seabass (AED 165) served with freekeh salad, micro greens and a saffron aioli which zig-zags across the plate like a lightening bolt, help bring a touch of the Middle East to the eclectic menu which takes influence from Asia, Europe and the Americas in its cuisine. The dish helps to reiterate Stratos’ new menu which has been re-tooled to offer value for money and reflects a worthwhile...
Read moreI’ve been searching for a place to impress my parents. Unfortunately I choose this restaurant and I regret it. We ordered 2 set menus. Starters: *Caesar salad (it was awful. Good I asked for anchovies on the side. Salad was very dry, sauce taste was really bad. *For additional amount 50 AED for 2 Burrata tomato salad (it was okay. At least we ate it. Service was really bad, waiters didn’t even wipe dirty table after each course. Only change cutlery and plates. For main course we choose: 2 salmon (it was normal, but absolutely tasteless. for additional amount of 50 aed BEEF STEAK. Waiter brought it without any sauce on the side. I asked for the sauce, he check with the kitchen and brought 2. What I can say about the steak, it was not medium well as I requested, it was well done. And taste like a piece of paper, even with the sauce it didn’t save the situation. Roasted Chicken was super dry. 2 pieces. I didn’t even finish one piece. Just inedible. 3 Desserts and 1 additional lotus cheesecake. Only last one we ate, the rest taste absolutely disappointing. Waiter asked how’s the food, I said it’s bad… I don’t like. He smile and left :) We got bottle of wine as well. Spend one thousand dirham on dinner and left hungry, it’s was a bad idea to visit this restaurant. So many nice a beautiful places in Abu Dhabi with really nice food and good service to go and unfortunately I choose this. Very disappointing.
