The worst hotel experience I ever had in 17 years in UAE.
I booked this hotel for a short trip. Since it was supposed to be short stay, and since hotel location is perfect in the very center of Abu Dhabi, I took the regretable decision of booking there. I checked out only after 3.5 hours stay. I guess I deserve it for being cheap and trying to save some money, however, here are the highlights of my visit below:
To my big surprise, the hotel has no parking!!!!! Imagine urself coming by ur car after 2 hours drive to be told that there is no dedicated parking available for property. U either have to use the parking of the opposite hotel "tryp" for 30 dhs a day, or try ur luck finding a parking a block or two away. The area is so busy and it is extremely difficult to find parking even blocks away. -I was told that my room was non-smoking room. The room and the whole floor was smelling like a big ashtray. I'm not a smoker and felt nauseous. Even my 3.5 hours stay was too much for me. Rooms are very old. Room was not clean. I could see long ladies hair on floor from previous guests. Room was not prepared good. Tissue boxes and toilet paper rolls are almost empty. bathtub was leaking into bathroom floor after only taking a quick shower. depressing view. U have "Tryp" hotel building in front of u blocking the view. I checked out only after 3.5 hours stay. Nobody even bothered to ask me why I'm checking out that early. So I didn't say anything. I just handed them my key and went somewhere else.
I hope my fellow travellers find my feedback useful. My advice is pay 100-200 dhs more and book in Al Maha Arjan by Rotana which is only one block away from this hotel, yet, it would worth ur money and guarantee u a lovely...

I have been a regular customer at the Howard Johnson Hotel Bar for the past three years, often spending over 1000 in a visit. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been very disappointing due to the poor service provided by the staff. It seems there is a noticeable bias in how customers are treated, with Filipino guests being prioritized over others. This has made me feel uncomfortable, and I don't believe this kind of service is appropriate in a diverse environment.
As someone who has been loyal to this establishment, I strongly feel that the staff needs to be retrained on how to provide equitable service to all customers, regardless of nationality. The current situation reflects poorly on the management, and I hope the team can address these issues promptly.
It would be great to have a direct line of communication with the management to discuss this further and see how improvements can be made. I really hope the Howard Johnson Hotel can provide a better and more inclusive experience...
